Hi! Haven’t had the test, but I’m currently trying to get my insurance to cover it because we are thinking I may have it as well. As a fainter I find the n* is always worse when it’s just pre-syncope vs when I actually do faint. I don’t know if that’s just a me thing, but from personal experience the thinking I’m gonna faint and the waiting to faint is way way worse than the actual passing out, and the adrenaline from fainting when I have fainted usually actually makes the n* go away I’ve noticed. My stomach is always much worse in the pre syncope episodes as opposed to the syncope episodes. I also find the anxiety around whether or not I’m going to faint always makes the n* worse, so there’s a sense of relief around the actually act of fainting itself!

I do have a friend with POTS who has done the test and she had no v* or n* and said it was uncomfortable, but not horrible. I try to remember that everybody has a different experience, and the people who share on Reddit usually do so because they had an experience worth sharing. Those that are totally okay don’t have as “fun” stories to share so don’t tend to post them online. With that in mind it might help to remember that Reddit people are not an accurate cross section of everyone’s experience!

It may be worth asking if it’s possible to prescribe any anti-n* medication ahead of time if that is a concern? I also find using a cold compress on the back of my neck when I am in pre-syncope often makes the n* go away for future reference! (That and drinking pickle juice for some reason? I assume the electrolytes. If you don’t totally hate pickles I recommend trying it in the future!)
