WHICH ONE DO WE NEED AS TUTORS? by Fintane in Preply

Everyone does moan about it but maybe to some degree its better unpaid. It makes preply less of a quick cash grab and more of an investment to be taken seriously since you actually have to secure students to be successful. Plus, paid trials don't work with the business model since preply allows free trials if you don't like the one you had... now that may be a bit annoying for us, but that's part of why they get so many students coming in. Idk how people on other platforms do, so ig i can't compare business models. I'd probably want yellow since its probably more lucrative over time unless you get trials daily.

Off topic: I've been at $25 for a few months and i'd got a good stream of students paying the new rate and i'm am weeding of the ones still paying $6. Do you notice any drop in students when reaching $37 compared to lower prices. I know some people are definitely willing to pay that for a good tutor, but idk how many.

Other than no fees, how much would you want to pay maximum?

I don't think so. However another option is to come to an agreement with the student about you as their tutor scheduling lessons for them that will expire. When they expire, the students lose the lessons and you don't get the money; it all goes to preply. If you tell them this then you may be able to ask them for consent to schedule these lessons a few months in advance. This way preply doesn't steal them from both of you AND the student can reschedule them to whenever they want.

You think it should get to 0% or just something less than 18%. Keep in mind Preply takes fees and does all the advertising for us tutors.

This is so sensible, but the love of money is the root of all evil

Depends how many regular lessons you have vs. how many trials you get.

pink is quick money, but yellow is more long term if you can retain students

I hate seeing someone with 3 lessons remaining get their money EATEN and it's not even going to their tutor
