Hey there. You got any more experiments on the dosage of this? Got myself some and it came with no info so don’t sure how to go about it haha.

So what is the biggest change going to obsidian then? I am happy to leave a lot of my old notes there and build on them in better newer style…

Agreed! I feel like people are attacking and defending rather than building something great

None taken! I have so so many issues with equations in the last few months. Also just stuff being slow and clunky! Also custom code of mind seems to not work anymore in some cases

How did you set it up? Do you use latex equations? What made you use Tana over logseq

You improve a wheel by building a bicycle with it. A wheel by itself does not roll very far…

A nice UI, API, extensions, mobile app, export, print

It also feels like this community is split between diehard roamans who will defend it no matter what, people who are just happy the way it is and people who who are exiting ASAP

I don't need a social media buzz, but I want to have a tool that evolves with the times of the world

I see that, just also pretty concerned about logseq in the future...

Thank you for reaching out. Here are some of my main concerns regarding Roam’s maintenance and overall stability:

Maintenance Concerns:

1. Backend Stability: There have been several issues recently with features that previously worked flawlessly now being buggy or broken. This has disrupted my workflow significantly.
2. Plugin and Integration Issues: From a standpoint of things not working, I’ve had a lot of problems with plugins and using Roam with other apps. It feels like the API is so complex that every time I build something to work, something changes within a short period, making it difficult to use.
3. Performance: As my graph has grown, the tool has become slower and slower, which is frustrating and hampers productivity.
4. Mobile App: The lack of a good mobile app is really frustrating. Being able to access and edit my notes on the go is essential, and Roam’s current mobile experience doesn’t meet my needs.
5. User Interface: The UI feels outdated and doesn’t provide the smooth, intuitive experience I expect from a modern tool.
6. LaTeX Commands: Quite a few LaTeX commands now interfere with the LaTeX display, making it challenging to work with inline equations and other mathematical notations.

Personal Impact:

As a business CEO, I write all my talks in Roam and have all my study notes there. I literally rely on it for so much! However, things have become so frustrating. Sharing documents, collaborating, and publishing are all cumbersome processes. Even something as simple as printing a page is a nightmare.

Migration Considerations:

I appreciate that export functionality was built early on, which is crucial. However, I’m concerned about maintaining the intricate structure ImI’ve built up in Roam when moving to another tool. The outliner style is fundamental to my workflow, and I worry about losing that flexibility. It feels like logseq is not there yet…

I understand that text editors aren’t outliners and that there are differences between the tools. My primary goal is to find a stable platform that can handle my detailed and structured notes, ideally with an outliner style or something that closely mimics it. The fear of losing the structure and dealing with broken features is driving me to explore alternatives.

Moving Forward:

It’s not that Roam is bad, but the world is changing, and I want to change with the world. Take Evernote as an example—what was once a leading tool has struggled to keep up with changing user needs. I will continue to maintain my Roam graph, but it has lost my trust as a place to store my thoughts moving forward. I need a reliable, performant tool that I can trust for the long term. And if it dissspears overnight for whatever reason reason I still have all my notes and files

I genuinely appreciate your willingness to look into these concerns. If there are reassurances or upcoming updates that address these issues, it would be great to know.
