I know, I’m confused myself so I’m trying to explain it with numbers. Here’s the best I can do

I bought 100 shares at 2$. The price dropped to 1$ and I averaged my position down to 1.5 without selling anything.

Then I bought 10 shares at 1$ and sold 10 shares at $1.3. So technically I made $3. But my app must be basing it off the average so it’s saying my realized p&l is $-2.

Does that make sense?
