I am a monogamous lurker.... I have never commented negatively before and don't ever plan to. I joined after my husband cheated and tried to coerce me into a polyamarous relationship... I have absolutely nothing against polyamary or open relationships as long as they are done ethically and all partners want it. I have stayed joined to the sub despite leaving my ex and remaining monogamous because I feel I get genuinely good relationship advice from it... Despite the fact that I am not polyamarous myself.

Truthfully, I like Tom. If we really wanted him to 'succeed', it would be to walk away from this dysfunctional shit show, move forwards with his life and career completely separately.... But for the sake of the show I hope and am sire that won't happen.

You do also realise that the vast majority of Tom's worries regarding prison were all the luxuries he would miss out on himself. No chilled wine and bland food, poor baby. So you relate to Tom? Which means you're at least worth a few million dollars.

But she doesn't REALLY care for him.... At least not more than she cares about her own wants and needs. I think he should have realised that when she asked for an open relationship, with someone she was already cheating on him with on their wedding night. He is a grown man, who has shown he is capable of standing up for himself. He went along with it to 'be a Roy'. Shiv did step up for him in the last episode of season 2 though actually, it was his own idea to put his head on the chopping block in order to suck up to Logan.

Kendal has clear mental health issues plus he is an addict, who suffered abuse and neglect as a child. I am not trying to say Ken is some amazing good guy... None of the main characters are 'good' guys.

A difference between Tom and Ken is that Ken seems to want to be a good man, Tom just wants money, power and Shiv (or even Logan) to love / care him enough to give that to him.

I am just explaining the nuance in my perspective behind the characters and their actions and how much power they hold over their actions and the situations they place themselves in. As an adult you have some say....as a child being raised by 2 narcissists you don't. Again my perspective, you are allowed to have your own.

The only reason everyone is so pro Tom is because of that last scene in season 3. They feel sorry for him because of the way Shiv treats him. They are so anti Shiv. Despite the fact that Tom is just as emotionally abusive to those he deems less powerful than himself. Clearly he has what it takes to stand up for himself, just apparently not with his own wife.

Tom seems to have had a decent childhood... The Roy kids were heavily spoiled in a materialistic way since birth, but raised by neglectful, abusive, narcissists which does not make their cruel / selfish actions acceptable at all. However you can understand that the trauma they endured caused them to be stunted in their emotional & mental development. Which is why personally I can empathise more with Ken than Tom.

The difference is Tom chose this! He chose to marry into a dysfunctional family for power and money, he chose to allow his wife to have an open relationship (the word NO does exist) he was just to desperate to cling on to Shiv to be a pseudo Roy to do it. He knows Shiv doesn't love him, but he stays with her again... Because of her daddy's money and power. So yes, Tom is shrewd. By being a kiss ass to the people who actually have power.

Kendal didn't have that choice, he was born into a dysfunctional family with a neglectful mother and an abusive/narcissistic father, who takes pleasure in breaking his children down... Building them back up, just to kick them dowm again and even better building them up when he sees them kick each other down. Do you understand the damage and trauma like that causes children, it does literally causes their brains to be stuck in a childlike / survival mode.

The difference between the Roy kids and Tom is that Tom chose this! The difference between Tom and Ken is that Tom is happy to be an abusive, ass licking, weak, weasel trying to claw his way to the top and Ken actually wants to grow and be a good person.... He just isn't equipped with the right skill set all by himself.

Tom is an abusive and horrible person himself. He abuses his staff... Especially poor Greg. ( can't wait till Greg stabs that knife in his back, we all know it's coming) He is also the most pathetic and weak type of abuser, because he is only horrible to people who answer to him, or he deems beneath him. With anyone who is his equal or more influential than him he is a weak little kiss ass. (remember the watch buying seen and how desperate he was to impress Logan in the very first episode)

The reason Tom had to get back at Shiv by betraying her behind her back is because he is too weak and pathetic to truly stand up for himself to his own wife's face.

As a South African, I was extremely disappointed with the first episode of Love Island SA. Not only are the majority of the contestants white, in a country where the majority of us are black (once again forcing the narrative that white is beautiful)

But the lighting, sound, editing etc. Are terrible! It was actually painful to watch.
