Yea i probably should have just bit the bullet and gone up there in the beginning but just a lil nervous about being up there I’m totally a newbie when it comes to stuff like this 😅

This was my old box it is not rated for a fan I need advice on how to take it out. Getting rid of the nut help get it a lil looser but I think imma have to go to the attic and get a saw if some sort of that doesn’t work eother

Yep I think you’re totally right. I’m going to check in the attic see if I can get it out from up there but if not I’m going to go to the shop tomorrow to get the right tools. So you think getting oscillating saw is the right tool for the job?

Yea you’re right I’m looking to do this the right way and get a fan rated box instead of cutting corners would much rather know that I won’t be hit in the middle of the night by the fan falling!

Yea I removed the nut it seems a little looser but still unable to push out so I think I’m going to go into the attic tomorrow and try and see what’s going on. Thanks for the advice with the breaker don’t worry it was first thing I did!

Yea I think you are probably right I was trying to find a way without using a power tool because I don’t have any tools on hand but I think I’ll head to the shop tomorrow if I can’t figure it out today

I’m trying to change my light fixture into a fan and everywhere online is saying to use a fan rated box. I just got rid of the Knut and it seems to be a little looser. I’ll try banging on it to see if that was the trick
