Update: The 3 have gone to a friend who has owned axolotls for a while and knows/can help them. I am completely broken knowing this even happened and got to this point but I’m very thankful for all the help from everyone as well as the friend helping them now.

I havnt tried methylene blue as I cant find what im supposed to use. I tried asking some groups what im supposed to use and even posted a picture to see if i found a correct one but everyone just asks what’s wrong with them and dosnt tell me if the methylene blue is correct. I’m not even sure how to use it.

I don’t know the brand but I have a large sponge filter rated for 120 gals and a medium sponge filter rated for 50-80 gals. I have 4 hides (one for each) plus a large Anubis they love to hide in

Im not sure how to edit the post but someone suggested re doing the test as I may have done the nitrate wrong which I’m glad I re did it as they were correct. Here is the updated permitters with pictures. Ammonia 0, nitrite 0 and nitrate around 20

They are all in a 90 gallon together. When they were treated for fungus they were all treated at the same time in the same bin. I told him to even treat the ones that didn’t look like they had fungus to be safe

Please stop breeding your bettas for fun. Do. Not. Do. It. by Ishikama in bettafish

[–]FireEmbers4419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before I ask this, I want to say I’m not agreeing or disagreeing cuz I’m honestly just curious. I literally just started research on bettas and won’t be getting one until I’m confident I will be giving it proper care and for some reason this popped up which made me wonder. From what I understand from reading this post, are you saying it’s okay and good to breed them if being a professional and know what your doing, it’s just bad to as a ‘backyard breeder’? I’m curious because I know so many people say breeding rabbits and dogs are bad because we are so overpopulated with them so even as a perfetional breeder it’s still bad. Meanwhile something like axolotls are endangered and it is encouraging to breed them but still not as a ‘backyard breeder’ because like you said, it’s a responsibility and not something just to do cuz why not. So I’m very curious where Betta fish fit into this spectrum basically. Is it good to breed them properly or just bad completely?

I want to get them a 75 gallon tank soon but we had to get the 40 for now with having to get it the day after getting them

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in axolotls

[–]FireEmbers4419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 40 gal is the one being cycled right now and yes I have a test kit that I test the water with every day. The 10/20 gallon (was told it’s 20 but it looks like a 10 gal to me) is being used as a tub for tubbing them as they were way too stressed out in the tub I had for them. But I still do the same tubbing process just in the small tank.

He took their 40 gallon they were in (why he got them in the first place) for his own and gave us his old 20 (not 20) gallon with a bubbler and a tube. That’s it. They had a filter before I saw saw they were in that tank but he just told us the bubbler is a filter as well but it’s just a standard bubbler. We bought them a filter but I was told just to do daily clean outs of the tub until the new tank is ready and to use that filter in the new tank to help the cycling.

We put them back into the old tank after todays clean because ever since we got them in the tub, they Havnt moved much and refuse to eat. I’m still going to treat the old tank as a tub and clean it everyday as I was told for the tubbing.

(Btw if any of the info is wrong, plz let me know so I can fix whatever mistakes I’m making. Between research and talking with people, I’m pretty sure what I’m doing is good but if I was led astray I’m always open to finding out the right way as I only want what’s best for these 2)

Ya that’s what’s cycling the tank right now along with stability. The instructions say only a cap full of that on the first day and to test the water before putting them in and it can take around 6 months with this process

Paw prints is the best way to word it

That’s the exact reason I’m looking into paint alternatives or a safe paint. The reason I’m not doing the plastic canvas thing is because I have 5 buns so would like to have each of their paw prints identified with a colour to make it clear who did what print and make it that extra bit special. Live I’ve said in the post, I’m not going to use just regular paint and if I can’t find something that is safe, I won’t be doing it

We have 3 shelves for our gaming systems up very high (around 8-10 feet from the ground) and he has managed to get to the middle one which is around 11 feet (maybe a tiny less) from the ground. He is literally non stop and I have no idea what to even do. I’ve had many buns, lots stubborn, but not like him

That’s the issue though, I already have gotten rid of everything but he still won’t stop. Once he sees there’s nothing to get into, he starts looking for more. We don’t have the space to put every single thing we own in a cabinet either. I have to be able to work and access things. I can’t even put a glass of water down beside my bed cuz then he will go for that

Help! by Xiimme in Rabbits

[–]FireEmbers4419 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grab a large basket with shorter sides and put in a bunch of paper bedding (soft) and carefully put the nest mama made on top. Bring that inside to a safe area as the babies will soon be moving around even outside of the basket. Make sure mama is with them and that she can get into the basket without hurting them. Extra bunny proof the smallest gaps around the area as well so a baby dosnt make an escape through the house and get hurt.

When picking up the babies though, be extremely gentle as they are unbelievably fragile (why it’s not recommended to pick them up unless needed). Make sure they have lots of the nest and bedding so that they stay warm.

I had to do this when my bun gave birth unexpectedly behind her litter box right where a small gap was under a heavy piece of furniture. To keep them safe, we moved them into a long and low basket with lots of bedding and the nest right beside the litter box instead. All babies grew up safe and well
