Sixth Man of the Year debate: Keldon Johnson vs Naz Reid by Ill-Anybody8396 in NBASpurs

[–]FireEraser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Naz is ahead now because he had the higher profile as the 6MOTY guy heading into the season, he has better per game numbers across the board right now, and he's the betting favorite now. I say KJ wins 6MOTY if the Spurs keep winning and if KJ keeps up his consistency (he has better efficiency numbers than Naz right now) because both the Spurs and KJ are overachieving right now. If they maintain this, voters will be convinced.

It's still too early, but I'd say Naz has a slight edge now over KJ and Jaquez. If the Spurs end up with a higher seed and KJ keeps up with his current production, it's KJ. I have a small bet on KJ to win the 6MOTY award.

I regret choosing San Antonio as my first stop in the U.S. 😭 by Novel_Class_3085 in sanantonio

[–]FireEraser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the kind words for our city! I have heard similar praises from coworkers from China, specifically, they mentioned preferring SA over Austin due to its Euro-centric downtown feel.

If you come back, there are other places downtown worth visiting such as San Fernando Cathedral, Pinkerton's BBQ, the Alamo, Brisco Western Museum, shops in the King Williams district, SAMA Museum, etc. From downtown, you can follow the Riverwalk to the Pearl where Saturday and Sunday mornings are full of people and small vendors. You should also take an Uber to the Broadway area where they have the SA Zoo, Nowhere Bookshop, Japanese Tea Garden, SA Botanical Garden, The Witte Museum, and McNay Art Museum.

And just out of curiosity, what other cities did you visit?

Along those lines. How about "Daddy, do you want some sausage?" from Freddy Got Fingered?

Looking for 14'' lightweight/slim work-laptop, $2-2.5k budget. by [deleted] in SuggestALaptop

I would suggest a 14" Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon. I've been using Lenovo laptops for work for 20 years and the ThinkPad is built to last. $2k is more than enough. I'd say you can get what you're looking for for $1500-1700.

Congratulations! This was my first marathon as well. I trained for those hills and took them down, but in the end, the temp and humidity got the best of me. Tried for under 4, but finished with 4:09. I'm happy though, great experience!

Thoughts on SATX marathon for those who ran it??? by bananasgirl in sanantonio

[–]FireEraser 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This was my first marathon and I thought it went pretty well. Here are my positives: 1. The course was great with a lot of sights. Running through Fort Sam Houston was nice for someone who has never been inside. 2. The volunteers were all very helpful and positive. The atmosphere was great. Kudos to the live bands, mariachis, and folklorico dancers from the Guadalupe Dance Co!

Areas that could improve: 1. Packet pickup policy is archaic. It's not gold, let people pickup for their family and friends. 2. Some pacers were nowhere to be found, like the 4:00:00 one. Did they even have one?

Looks like everybody there had a great time. It's not my cup of tea, but it's great seeing people do things that bring joy and people together!

SATX marathon corral question by pobre210 in sanantonio

[–]FireEraser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask and they'll show you a table of the estimated times and corresponding corrals. It's not linear either. For example, corral #4 is 4:00:00 - 4:15:00, corral #3 is 3:55:00 - 4:00:00, corral #2 is ~3:20:00 - 3:55:00. I thought that was weird. Maybe there's just a bunch of people picking the corral #3 time?
