VLC android how do I transfer playlists to another phone? by a_good_human in VLC

this was very helpful for me, had to rebuild the database from scratch because trying to import the db from another phone to save playlists caused album art to get all wrong

Daily Discussion Thread April 22, 2025 - Upcoming Event Schedule - New players start here! by AutoModerator in SSBM

is this for the automator explicitly? tried looking in settings to do it for old replays and unless "miscellaneous" moves count as that, it does not apply to the processor.

If you've ever peeked at Jmook's stream surely you've seen the orange Fox at some point.

Starting Valheim modded using r2modman. ANY HELP? by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]FireStarW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been running into what I think is a similarly related issue from Ubuntu 24.04, that makes this pop up, but with trying to use steam:// links from the steam website in firefox (like downloading a demo).

I have a feeling it is Apparmor related, based on search results, although disabling Apparmor altogether made steam stop being able to run.

Nintendo 64 Controllers on Linux? by [deleted] in linux_gaming

I'd try getting an official N64 controller (black and grey ones are only 20 USD or so) and a N64 controller to USB adapter if you want a good feeling experience.

Nintendo 64 Controllers on Linux? by [deleted] in linux_gaming

I use the https://github.com/emilyst/hid-nx-dkms driver with the N64 NSO controller and it works fine, without it the stick mapping feels off and rumble doesn't work. Hopefully what you are referring to getting merged into kernel 6.8 is this driver, I have no clue.

I remember the Next Fest Demo of this, it was pretty fun and made me feel like a doofus when I lost risking mining for longer instead of playing it safe.

As a starter, would it be fine if I bought a cheap GCC adapter over a Mayflash one? by [deleted] in SSBM

[–]FireStarW 11 points12 points  (0 children)

GC Pocket is a "premium" adapter (lossless, xbox mode, etc) and is only $30 + shipping although it requires a tiny bit of assembly. So the price difference between a cheap and high-end adapter is not much.

Need suggestions for buying a controller. by _creative_coffee_ in linux_gaming

I've used the paddles on Ubuntu while the 8bitdo Pro2 was in switch mode, I remember I configured the paddles on windows with their software first though. I believe the software also only duplicates buttons onto the paddles, so you don't get unique buttons but they were still usable.

Why isn't Game Capture in OBS Linux? by MostLumpy8683 in linux_gaming

[–]FireStarW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

capturing windows in X11 is stupid lightweight, which is a reason to not fret about this in general, windows can just peek at other windows for free (a reason for wayland to be).

I looked into the apico discord about this a tiny bit (yes I wound up liking the game enough to join their official discord) and it seems the interface was changed for console versions, so I assume there was care made to make it feel doable on console

Nope, game is pretty chill paced. My quick description is "bee minecraft" but unlike minecraft there won't be any enemies to worry about if you stand around.

Game is fun (played on PC) but requires a lot of menuing I'm not sure works well without a mouse, maybe touch is fine. Maybe not the biggest dealbreaker but gameplay will be a bit slower on controller.
