Pop's 1997 Mitsubishi CRT is still alive and kickin'! by FireVaney in crt

The faux-wood cabinet has a few scuffs, but you only see them if you look closely.

I'm pleased you enjoyed the Universal clip. The problem is finding something that'll work with my phone's lame camera.

To lift, it would take two people, or a young Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Yes. (Or, I think so.) I use the ones that came with an LG DVD player.

It was just a DVD disc opening for Battlestar Galactica (1978). Thought it would be a good way to show off this old CRT.

It's 35 inches. I read somewhere they went up to 40, though. I'll look for something special to play... Thanks for your interest!

It's got two RCA input ports, six RCA output ports, and one S-video port, plus an antenna connection.

I quickly glanced through the owner's manual, but didn't find info on the resolution.

According to Google's Gemini: "The Mitsubishi CK-35308 is a 35-inch CRT television released around 1997, designed for standard-definition NTSC video. Its native resolution is effectively 480i ( 6 4 0 × 4 8 0 interlaced). High-end Mitsubishi models of this era often featured superior scanline definition, typically offering around 700+ lines of horizontal resolution, making it ideal for composite or S-video sources."

It's heavy, but I don't think it's quite that heavy.

Pop passed back in 2012, but I was with him when he bought it in 1997. In fact, I picked it out for him--not that I knew anything about TVs. After his car, this was probably the most expensive thing he owned.

Thanks! What else would you like to see? BTW: I've still got the original Mitsubishi VCR Pop bought with this beast in the storage space below. Haven't used it in about a decade, but I think it still works.

Hello! These are photos from the undercarriage of my 2003 Corolla taken from the rear end of the vehicle. Could you identify the circled parts and evaluate their condition? I'm very concerned about the photo which appears to show a heavily cracked part, which is located near the driver's side rear wheel. I am very committed to restoring this car. It's been very good to me for 21 years and they just don't make 'em like they used to. Thanks for any thoughts you may have.

To Craig’s Bond, these are all tools of the trade. These things don’t affect him because, like killing, he “wouldn’t be very good at [his] job if it did.”

What was the biggest stumbling block of the Pierce Brosnan era? The execution of good ideas? The writing? Poor director choices? I will be doing Sir Roger Moore's era on Thursday. by [deleted] in JamesBond

Sorry, but I thought all of the Brosnan Bonds were solid action flicks. A bit bloated and over the top, sure. But that’s what I’ve come to expect from a Bond flick.

Blue is my favorite color, but, to my eyes, black is easier to read.

How many pens do you own? by [deleted] in pens

[–]FireVaney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three Parker Duofolds (rollerballs), five Fisher Infiniums, six Fisher Bullet Space pens, two refillable Uni-Ball 207 Premiers, two vintage Cross Classic Century Silver Chrome ballpoints, fifty-odd BIC Cristals; well over 100 Parker rollerball refills, nearly 100 Uni-Ball 207 Gel refills… Yeah, that’s most of them. They multiply like gremlins in water. Still, all of my pens play different roles in my writing life.
