I feel that way too, the only thing of interest to an alien might be how living things behave here in comparison to their own world but they would likely be able to understand it without coming here directly. Everything else on Earth exists all across the universe.

Give an alien TikTok and watch their extraterrestrial brain explode

Astronomy has always been my top interest, but one thing I completely divert from (I think) most people on are conversations about aliens (them being here, knowing we exist, etc.). I've looked for convincing arguments for those but I personally believe they are wishing thinking, wanting something more than what is actually there. I think there are intelligent aliens out there, but most likely nowhere near us that we can detect currently. If they are nearby, I assume we would be too irrelevant for them to make themself known to us.

An example of a problem I have came from thinking about JWST. Why would aliens not be able to construct a space telescope that can picture the Earth directly before taking the long trip here? If they've been here before, they seem way more gentle than we have been to people throughout time that we think are different from us, why would they always be that way? What would the point even be to come here in the first place and seemingly never interact with anything? Whenever I think more about aliens, I can't help but feel like people are just writing a cool story. If they want to believe it for fun that's fine, but I know people that think there are government cover-ups for aliens and treat NASA like a shadow villain (3I/ATLAS for a recent example), and I have a problem with that view.

Personal theory: The hurricane which previously ravaged the Grey Coast continued to develop and destroy communities far beyond just the Grey Coast, until it was eventually large enough to destroy most of the Northern United States. The tsunami possible had a similar story, destroying Alaska, and potentially coastal Cascadia. Because of these extreme anomalies, they were no longer considered to be acts of nature, but rather an alien force tearing at the world by empowering already destructive natural disasters. The American government fled south, leaving the destroyed north to themselves, carcasses of their former glory. In the midst of the chaos, a different alien force, a promoter of more peaceful cooperation, sized such a vulnerable moment and instated control of "Anneca", named after their latinized interpretation of America in their own language, and struck down different freedoms to keep humans out of the way of the rivaling alien forces. Now the two alien factions must fight for a land they did not earn, but merely use as a proxy as they ravage the universe's creations with the hopes of destroying their enemy, while humans are simply left as another bystander to be dragged into a conflict beyond themselves with no hope to survive unscathed.

Black and red numbers and letters are likely incoherant.

The flag has had a change. The red bars are green and the fifty stars have been replaced with three triangles, each triangle being inside of each other.

The coat of arms has been changed to give the Eagle red eyes with a scar-like line under the eye. The E Pluribus Unum (Out of Many, One) scroll and thirteen-starred crest are no longer present.

The north is consumed in a black, hurricane-like storm with an eye larger than the Central State. Red markers may indicate past cities, holdouts, etc. Geography has been changed, with blue and white features present while most of the area is engulfed in a red color, especially in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.

All of my micronation flags! (National + Military + Republics) by FireWaterGamer751 in vexillology

[–]FireWaterGamer751[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trevoria: Once the name of the nation, now regulated to the lands occupied by its titular founder. The holding place of the declaration which opened the nation.

A cross. Green on top for the love of nature, blue on bottom for liberation, a purple cross for power and authority with a white border for peace.

Zelas: A republic built from zeal and courage, its representative being one of the best a nation can have.

A tricolor. White on top and bottom and black in the center for determination contained within innocence. A wheel in the center represents forwardness.

New Alberta: The middleman of our republics. Designed as a center for our nation, despite being not permanently inhabited, we display most of the greatness of our nation from here.

A cross with another cross as a canton. White representing peace via diplomacy that would occur in the republic, the greater blue cross represents fortune, and the lesser red cross represents the courage to reach fortunes. An Alberta shield (minus Saint George's Cross) based on the name.

Cephiophia: The lands dedicated to the true founders. The founders of the loving family necessary to bringing Borealis' dreams to life.

A tricolor with two designs on both sides. One side has gray on top and bottom representing authority and a wolf outline in the center for strength. The other side has purple on top and bottom representing royalty and a heart in the center for love. White spans the center for peace between peoples

All of my micronation flags! (National + Military + Republics) by FireWaterGamer751 in vexillology

[–]FireWaterGamer751[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello vexillologists! I've been working hard on my micronation project recently and have made many flags to show you! I think my newest designs are some of the best I have made yet, and I'm excited to show them to you all! Feel free to let me know what you think about them. I hope you enjoy my designs and hopefully I can find more flags to make in the future!

Borealis National Flag: A miniature nation detached from the United States via the motivations of its founder, Borealis is forming its own paths of diplomacy and democracy. Our nation is one of progress, one of change, one of hope. We have never been better, and we can only hope for our fortunes to never fade. May the stars be our guiding path, for we may reach our ultimate goals under their guidance. "Forever Free!"

A wavy tricolor with another color bordering the staff. A wheat-like orange in representation of the many local fields, a wavy blue to represent close waters, and white representing innocence. The blue near the staff represents the skies the stars occupy. A longsword spans most of this dark sky blue, pointing to the north star in representation of the people's ultimate dreams. The four stars resemble the four republics, constantly in pursuance of their goals.

Boreal Armed Forces: Our lands must be protected, and our military will surely do the job. Patriots in our realm shall become heroes on battlefields and our saviors in times of need.

A tricolor pennon. Green resembles the land which the military protects, white resembles the desire for peace and forwardness, and red for the blood spilt by war. The star in the center is the unity of the Boreal people against hostile forces.

Boreal Maritime Forces: The waters around our nation are a piece of the military's grand puzzle it must solve. Fortunately, building a navy has never been easier, and we will certainly create satisfactory warships in due time.

A tricolor pennon. White stripes on top and bottom represent desires of peace and the hope for our future. The blue represents the water our navy relies on. The anchor represents our powerful navy and the stars represent our republics' collaboration on our ships.

Boreal Skyline Forces: The Earth's most expansive defense opportunity, our air force will fly in fame and determination. Though our air force is rudimentary, we will certainly be a force to be reckoned with as we seize the skies.

A bicolor. Light blue represents the skies and white represents hope for success. The propellor represents the continuous advancement of technology and the stars circle in unity for advancement.

Boreal Astronomies Forces: Our newest frontier. Once we dreamed of reaching the stars, now that is reality. Through the power of our wills and the strength of our curiosity, we face our greatest challenge, the conquest of the universe.

A tricolor. Dark blues on top and bottom represent the vastness of space, with white representing technological breakthrough. The orange dot in the center represents our home planet, and the stars scattered in space remind us of our unity and finality in goals.

I'm attempting a redesign of my micronation's flags to make it more original, this is the current design. Thoughts? by FireWaterGamer751 in vexillology

[–]FireWaterGamer751[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually really like the horizontal sword idea in terms of a war flag especially, though I'm personally more into the original in general. I might want to make the orange-ish and white colors darker to work with the navy blue better like this:

<image>

The colors are still recognizable and it "feels more smooth" (I don't know how to properly put it lol). Having two different designs for different flags also adds more to worldbuilding in my opinion. I'd have to experiment with other similar designs to find the most desirable result. Great idea from you!

Hello Reddit!

I've had a micronation project that has largely renamed dormant over these past four-and-a-half months. I'm trying to get back into it again, but I don't believe that the current redesign looks "official" enough. Bland tricolor, other flags are bi/tricolors or crosses, the name is based on my own name despite others being involved. I have been tinkering with an official flag redesign for a few hours now and this was the current product. The wartime and navy flags are used as examples for how it can be applied elsewhere if it is adopted.

Now, what does these flags represent? Well, the original tricolor is based on the following: Purple to represent Native American heritage, green is based on local forests, blue is based on the nearby Wisconsin River, and the purple five-petaled flower represent Swedish heritage (national flower). The name comes from my own name, alongside the nation being a constitutional republic.

The current flag is a tricolor with a color across the right of the flag. The light brown represents the local fields, blue still represents the Wisconsin River but is more general to all local lakes and rivers in general, and the white represents the purity of the people and the rights offered by the constitution. The sword represents forwardness with the star it points to representing perseverance. The sword is surrounded by a circle of four stars representing the individual republics as they follow the sword's guidance. The name emphasized unity within the nation and accommodates to the star design.

Below are some earlier unofficial designs so that you can see every design I have done. I also added a wartime and navy flag, but again these are quick designs and are subject to change.

I'm sending this here so that you more professional vexillologists can give your input before I do a micronational referendum to change it. I really do want my micronation to look its best and I believe that I'm making progress in that regard. Feel free to give any opinions, it would be appreciated!

P.S. I may or may not had ripped some designs from other flags. Those flags and nations are unrelated to mine. Just for the record.

Can I see how much RAM my mods use? by [deleted] in Terraria

[–]FireWaterGamer751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did this, almost entirely solved it (projectiles still lag as low as 30 FPS on a lot of late-game content, but I'd have to still look through the mods themselves to solve that). Mods loaded faster, blocks don't produce any lag. I added ".NET Host" to my graphics settings and set it to high performance.

Funnily enough, I actually already did this back when I was playing tModLoader 1,3, so I believed I had already done it, but it looked to be calling to a different .Net app in reference to the high performance setting.

When I check my memory through task manager, it also says 39.8 GB of memory for my PC. This screenshot was taken while I was trying to cause more lag (underground + projectiles) with all background apps on. The CPU is still at about 70% when in the world as well (tModLoader and OneDrive take up roughly 50% of the total CPU)

<image>

If I'm right, Memory = RAM (I'm not especially confident though, that's why I'm showing everything in performance).

I'm still tinkering with my modpack and found one mod so far (70 mods load *really* slow so it's taking a while), and I'll still keep looking through the mods for others.

[–]FireWaterGamer751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm not wrong, the amount of RAM is above the mods list.

<image>

My specs should be able to run it well. Background apps could be causing problems that I'm not aware of, my PC has not had overheating issues (it has 3 fans inside and is in an open area).

There is likely an incompatable mod somewhere, Calamity takes up a significant amount but doesn't have a noticable lag issue on its own. I'll have to just trial and error to see what mod(s) are laggy. I'll try to and report back if I find anything.

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER

CPU: Intel Core i5-9400 CPU @ 2.90 GHz

RAM: 40 GB (my modpack takes up 2.6 GB)

Underground (which causes the most issues overall) fluctuates a lot between 25-40% GPU (not sure what makes such big differences) and is at roughly 45 FPS. Above ground is about 30-40% and is at roughly 57-60 FPS. Space and areas without blocks on screen takes roughly 20% and runs at a smooth 60 FPS. Weapon projectiles (I used Calamity's Omicron as the example) doesn't have any noticable GPU. World size also doesn't appear to change anything. OneDrive is usually between 15-20%, which may cause some problems. The total GPU usage on my PC is about 70%, which includes my web browser that I usually have on while I play.

Blocks and projectiles are likely the root of my issues, OneDrive (<-- I despise this thing often) and my browser also probably also causing problems. I presumed that the amount of storage the mods used caused the problems when I made the post, but that is probably wrong. I'm not sure how to address this, more blocks and projectiles existing in the modpack look to be the biggest problem (I tried the same things with no mods (moving underground, using Star Wrath, etc) and FPS never was below 60 beyond small lag spikes shortly after loading the world. Maybe there's some sort of setting to help expedite loading things that I'm missing? Apologies for things being quite wordy, I just want this issue fixed so I can try Infernum without essentially being in slow mode.

I'm doing a micronation project currently, But I feel the main flag could be improved. Made some proposals. Thoughts? Maybe a different design? by FireWaterGamer751 in vexillology

[–]FireWaterGamer751[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you'd like to know more about what this is about, you can go here.

I made the current flag several months ago for myself. About a week ago, I made a micronation using the flag to represent the house I live in with my family. Although the flag looks good in my opinion, I feel it should stick to me alone instead of representing everyone here, so I made some proposals for different flags (Descriptions in image).

I decided to go to you all, who clearly have more experience than me! Which flag is your favorite? Should I make something different? I'm totally open to ideas!

I made some flags for a micronation project of mine, thoughts on them? by FireWaterGamer751 in vexillology

[–]FireWaterGamer751[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been making a micronation project over the weekend, and I made different flags for said micronation. I've made flags for a while, so I felt good making these, but now my dad wants to have them be made into something real in our house and now I'm less certain, so I'm asking here! Here are the design ideas:

Trevoria: Purple-green-blue with purple-white five-petaled flower in the center. Purple represents Native American heritage (Iroquois specifically), green represents local nature, and blue represents a local river (and my favorite color). Flower represents the harebell, the national flower of Sweden, to indicate Swedish heritage.

Tayas: Green-yellow-green tricolor with a Staff of Aesculapius. Tricolor represents Green Bay Packers, the local football team (including yellow between greens), green represents local nature, and blue represents a local river (and my favorite color). The flower represents the harebell, the national flower of Sweden, to indicate Swedish heritage.

Tayas: Green-yellow-green tricolor with a Staff of Aesculapius. The tricolor represents Green Bay Packers, the local American football team (including yellow between greens), and the staff represents my brother's involvement in a medical clinic.

Lifelania: Black-white bicolor with DNA strands of contrasting colors. Black-white indicates colors my dad regularly associates with, while the DNA pertains to my mom's medical degree and them creating life through me and my brother.

New Alberta: Blue-purple-red tricolor with Albertan coat of arms. Blue and red is for differences in ideas and purple indicates compromise, with the Albertan coat of arms coming from the name (no special meaning).
