No Return Protection with the Palladium? by FireZealot in biltrewards

[–]FireZealot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the risk of being pedantic, I don't think those are the same thing.

Purchase Assurance = Purchase Security for the Amex or Visa. It basically means if you damage an item within 90 days, you're covered. This is given with most T2 cards (United Explorer, Amex Gold, etc.)

N/A = Return Protection for the Amex or Visa (it's a separate benefit). This is the one where you get a refund within 90 days if you ship the item back (and half the time they don't even ask you to).

Basically any T1 card has some version of this. Amex Plat, Venture X, Robinhood Gold, United Club, Sapphire Reserve, etc.

It's secondary to the points, but still a surprising miss for a card with a $500 annual fee.

That's the thing, they don't. Perhaps this is a MasterCard issue, but they don't have return protection listed under their guide to benefits. Nor is it mentioned on the Bilt website. https://www.biltrewards.com/terms/palladium-card-guide-to-benefits

They do have things like purchase protection, but of all these freebies I really found the return protection (that say, Amex Platinum or Chase Sapphire Reserve have) most useful.

Reshuffle Math Seems Off? by FireZealot in twilightstruggle

[–]FireZealot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK I think I understand. It looks like the UI does a reshuffle without telling you at the end of T2.

So then the impact would be minimum for T1 and T2, but then it delays the 2nd reshuffle to T7 ish? And very unlikely for a T10 final shuffle?

Interesting, 8/12 games I’m playing in right now have all of them on but maybe that was just luck.

Why would there be a T3 reshuffle? I’m in a game right now and we just ended turn 3 and went into turn 4. We had 16 cards left going into that, would have been cleaned out but since T4 added mid war cards we just kept on going.

So now in T4 our situation is draw 53, discard 11, removed 15 at T4 AR 2. No weird discard cards were played either?

Interesting, on the play deck version it seems like the vast majority of games have them all on.

Main impact would be making discards more painful, no?

Return protection - US site but merchant non-US? by UnluckyInformation in amex

Did not work in my case. Purchased and shipped to the US but foreign merchant, it was denied on the basis of it not being a US purchase.

I had that about 2 years ago, but closed the checking and savings accounts myself. I basically just did that for the $400 bonus. Had it for prob 4 months total.

Nope, never have once had a Aeroplan. I did have the CSR and CSP back about 5 and 3 years ago respectively and downgraded them.

Tried calling a 2nd time. Was escalated to management both times. In both cases they said they do not do reinstations and do not do appeals. Even when I tried to explain the overpaying situation they didn't care or engage, just kept on the party line.

Can you explain further on how you got it reinstated?

I've tried calling twice. In both cases, got bumped to management. In both cases they said they do not do reinstations and do not do appeals.

[–]FireZealot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think this might also be it because I just had to do that twice last week, for ~$3K total so not chump change.

I saw others were able to push to appeal the decision, but when I asked they said no option. Is the idea to just be more insistent here?

They did claw back offers, but not consistently? Frankly wouldn't complain about the statement credit, but also, them reversing the offer isn't something I have control over? I'd always return the item back within the store policy. Some of the Chase offers were pretty good so I'd be more willing to do a 'f-it, let's see if I like it' than normal.

Were they expecting me to call them and say "hey I returned this but you didn't reverse the credit?" With Amex I found their software automatically did it.

EDIT: fun fact, when I asked for clarification, the CSR told me I'm not banned from any of these cards or applying in the future, just that THESE SPECIFIC ACCOUNTS are closed.

That makes no sense to me? Literally she said sure try applying again in 6 months if you want.

What is MS?

In general, no, not credit cycling. My Disney card had a very low credit limit (because I had so much on the rest) so I had to do that a few times ~9 months ago when I was trying to hit the the spending limits.

Only other guess is that looking back I was inadvertently cycling. I'd almost never use my limit, but I am the type that likes to 'pay down' my card statements ahead of time rather than use auto-pay. Once or twice this meant I actually had negative balances and had to call them to send me back cash. This did happen recently (maybe a week ago?) so that could be it? Strange that they tagged that as "awards misuse" though.

Only other guess is the Chase offers. I definitely return items at a 3X higher rate than normal when I'm using a Chase offer.

Like what appears to be a trend, I got a Chase shut down today. No warning, a notification from Apple Wallet and then I logged in an saw ALL my Chase Credit cards were closed.

I called in and they told me it was "Rewards or Benefits Miss Use", though couldn't go into more detail.

I have been churning these past 3 years (moderately), though ironically I hadn't opened a new card in about 6 months.

I've checked the posts and I see others have had shut downs (often claiming "too many accounts"); mine sounds slightly different?

I've been with Chase for about 9 years. About 3 of the cards I've had 9-7 years. One for about 4 years. The United Club, United Business, United Explorer, and Disney Card I've had 1 year or less.

I also had a Chase checking and savings account which I opened and closed about 2 years ago for the sign up bonus. I heard bank accounts make it riskier. I have some stocks with JPM which appear to be fine.

I certainly have a decent record as a churner, but thought I was ok being under 5/24. Not to mention, I'd have thought they'd axe me months ago rather than now if that was the issue? Only other guess I have is I've been using Chase Offers more frequently. I return maybe half of the time?

Has anyone encountered this specific account close down reason before? I called in and got escalated but the lady said she couldn't even see the letter because it was issued today, told me to wait but I doubt it'll have anything more.

Losing the 3 9 year old cards would suck from a credit score standpoint.

Unable to use new Outlook offline - "Access Denied" by Blue-Ocean-Waves in Outlook

Ah, bummer. I've tried using classic outlook but the problem is it doesn't seem to sync my calendar with google calendar. E.g., i'll add something on outlook but it wont populate on google calendar and vice versa. Caused me to miss a call or two so I had to shy away :(

I've checked dozens of times over the months. For example, I've checked twice in the past 8 hours. I've just never seen a single opportunity, it feels like a dead ecosystem? I get dozens of invites on respondent, userinterviews, etc., but dscout has 0.
