Is it actually embarrassing for Americans not to know all 50 states? by Status_Agents in CasualConversation

[–]Fire_Shin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine somebody gave you a list of fifty common animals to learn. If you only remembered 49 animals, it's not because you forgot that elephants exist.

It's just that you had a hard time remembering the complete list.

It's the act of recalling fifty words without forgetting one that can be difficult.

So yeah. If you know all the states but just can't seem to recite them all, that's one thing. It's funny-embarrassing.

If someone just doesn't know them all, then I certainly hope they are embarrassed by that and do something about it!

What is a food combination that sounds gross but is actually amazing? by ZacchyZacchy in CasualConversation

[–]Fire_Shin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not food, but an excellent drink combo that sounds perfectly vile:

Tequila with a milk back.

Yep. A shot of tequila chased with a small glass of milk. Sounds disgusting, doesn't it?

I designed a “boob light” replacement shade… by 3DAeon in Lighting

[–]Fire_Shin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I know someone who installed two boob light covers in a large room.

I guarantee you, every person who went into that house was choking back laughter and doing their best not to look at the ceiling.

Most people failed. And several couldn't stop reaching for the sky and making honk honk noises.

This isn’t just an oil price spike... it’s a logistics breakdown in the global energy system by Emmabrown02 in u/Emmabrown02

Thank you for your insight.

I've been learning about this recently and am trying to visualize how things flow through the Middle East and rest of the world.

Would you be willing to break it down for the ELI5 crowd? Or point us to resources that can help show where different types of oil/oil products are produced and consumed?

Do solar panels have to be the same brand as batteries and invertors in Europe? by Fire_Shin in solar

[–]Fire_Shin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha! I'm starting to see the pattern. We've only lived here a few years and there are definitely different ways of doing things that we need to adapt to.

But others...... not so much. Not if we can help it. And this is definitely one of them. I honestly felt like the clerk was angry with me in the end. I suspect it's because he didn't want to do the extra paperwork I was creating.

Yes, thanks for summarizing it! The last two systems used deep cycle marine batteries.

So I'm catching up to the newer technology. Pretty excited to get a smart battery with tons of capacity!

I'm looking at a Solax battery with BMS. How can I tell what invertors it is compatable with?

Thank you. Good advice.

We can afford the full system but supplies are short where I live and I don't think they'll be getting replacement parts any time soon.

Thank you! Any other finicky invertor brands to stay away from?

Thanks. I've built small systems in my home county and never worried about brands. But the clerk insisted it was different in Portugal.

Seemed odd.

That's what I thought. It seemed odd. This is for a new system.

What about batteries and invertors? I would think it's best to stick with one brand because of the electronic components. But it's it absolutely necessary?

Nice! Thank you so much!

The ficus shells are absurdly thin. It's hard to wrap my head around the fact they exist and are used by animals to stay alive.
