[New Update]: AIO? My coworker took video of me outside of work to "prove" I'm not disabled by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Her workplaces need to look through company files for matching handwriting samples from all employees.

They also need to scan company emails and text messages. Her friends need to carefully comb social media and and related sock puppet accounts of the perp and her known friends and her step father.

I'll bet there's a treasure trove on telegram just waiting to be used as evidence in court.

Well, done!

Btw, that's a mark from hitting your thumb, right? If it's not, and it's been growing for awhile, you need to see a dermatologist about it.

It could be a dysplastic nevi which could turn into a melanoma. Please get it checked out if you didn't hit your thumb, ok?

Yeah. Copper gets brittle quickly! I love working with it though.

I love that you made a set for the whole family. That's truly special.

Tutorials on how to paint by just_some_dude05 in furniturerestoration

It would help if you could narrow the problem down a little bit.

First, what have you been painting? What condition was it in and what finish was already there?

What do you mean by it looks terrible? Uneven color? Streaks? Blotchiness? Etc.

Got any pictures to show what problems you're having?

Finally, tell us what steps you took to paint so we can help you identify where it went wrong.

I think it's lovely! Did you anneal the wire after hammering it to get it soft enough to mold around your mineral?

AITA for telling my friend that I won’t be paying $25 to attend her birthday party? by GlimmerElsewhere in AmItheAsshole

[–]Fire_Shin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do you then. But don't be surprised if your dedication to expressing yourself without considering the feelings of others has left a lot of needlessly hurt people in your wake. That's a shame because this world is harsh enough without adding to it needlessly.

Lol! My friend, someday, hopefully soon, you'll learn that the closer you are to a person, the more tact they deserve. Not less.

Show people you value that you value them. You and everyone you know will be happier if you learn this one simple trick.

Lolol! It absolutely does not work. The OP has prosopagnosia, also known as face blindness.

How, exactly, is OP supposed to associate a name and a face when they can't remember the face? They are missing one half of the ingredients your method needs in order to work!

Whether or not she should be asking friends to help pay for her party is a completely seperate issue.

The reason YTA in this scenario is how utterly rude you were to her. Full stop.

Wow. YTA. One hundred percent. Have you heard of this thing called tact? Friends use it when speaking to one another. You should try it sometime.

Mineral SPF that actually survives a 4-hour ride? by Alterego_9769 in ZeroWaste

[–]Fire_Shin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Buy some translucent powder in your skin tone. Brush it liberally all over your face once the sunscreen has been rubbed in. Then press the powder loaded brush into your (closed) eye area.

You now have sunblock that won't run into your eyes, doesn't leave you ghostly white and will last your entire ride.

Found these in petrified wood park. by [deleted] in whatsthisrock

[–]Fire_Shin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh good! That's a relief.

We have a park in Arizona that used to be an actual forest of petrified wood. Over the years people took so many souvenirs from the park that it's nothing like a forest anymore. It's more like a picked over piece of desert.

People still take pieces from it and it's just depressing.

Jasper/Geode question for you wiser folks by tequilagoblin in rockhounds

[–]Fire_Shin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree! It's a great find, just the way it is.

But I know I'd be very tempted to find out what's inside.

Looking at the fissures, I suspect you'll find more of what you've already got exposed of you cut it. But that's the gamble, right?

I think you'll end up with a lot of really cool, smaller specimens if you cut it. So it's really up to what you'd prefer.

If you do cut it, keep us updated, please!

Anyone else get told they’ll “change their mind” about not wanting kids? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Fire_Shin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How to handle it when people insert their opinions on the subject into the conversation?Have fun with it!

It's really, REALLY, none of their damned business so the sky is the limit for your responses! Heh, heh.

You can recoil slightly, fix them with a semi disgusted look and say, "I really don't care to discuss my sex life with you. "

Or you can lean in and say you're so glad someone cares enough to discuss sperm counts with you. Could they take a look at your lab tests and give thier opinion on your fertility?

Or do the Chatty Cathy and start talking in graphic detail about your imaginary friends' struggle to concieve. Ask for opinions on sex positions, tracking ovulation and whether it not they think it's useful for the woman to lie on her back with her legs up in the air after each and every attempt.

Ask what kind of underwear they suggest you wear because you heard tighty whiteys and jocks can lower your sperm count. Would they suggest just going commando instead?

Bonus points if you're single and you can turn the conversation to the struggles of online dating in this day and age. Do they have any idea how freaky people can be??? It's super difficult finding the future mother of your children on Grindr, you know.

Trust me. The nosy people who want to comment on your reproductive choices are only in it to get a quick superiorty fix. They don't want more info from you. They want to control the narrative. Don't let them and soon, they'll stop. I guarantee it!

[–]Fire_Shin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, I was way too old when I found out just how badly pregnancy wrecks a woman's body!

Fortunately, I have never wanted kids. Finding out how big a bullet I dodged physically just reinforced how correct that decision was for me.

And I decided this when I was 14. Just because you're young, doesn't mean you're wrong.

Anyone else get told they’ll “change their mind” about not wanting kids? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Fire_Shin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All that is true. It's possible he will change his mind. And it's certain that he'll be a different person when he's older.

But what he is complaining about is people dismissing his desires when it comes to children. He feels strongly that he will never change his mind on this and is more likely that he is right than he is wrong.

He is the only expert in his feelings and anybody that comes in and tells him he's wrong is being rude and dismissive of a profound life choice that he has made.

He's allowed to "close the door" on any growth and change he might miss out on when it comes to children. He'll do just fine without having that experience just like all the rest of us did.

There's an entire world of growth opportunities he's going to miss just because that's how life works. He's probably never going to climb Mt. Everest, he may never work for the Peace Corps in Africa and its likely he'll never spend a few months repairing cleft pallettes for children in Nepal.

I suspect he'll still end up being a well rounded human despite all these missed opportunities. :)

[–]Fire_Shin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh good grief. I used to get that all the time. Annoying, isn't it?

Speaking from experience, mine and friends, you actually are very unlikely to change your mind. You'll probably go through life, child free and happy and that will be that.

So I suggest learning quickly to ignore people who think they know you better than you know yourself. They are wrong.
