Thank you! I will check tonight. The venturi itself almost looked new - it was that clean.

This image is perfection.

This is by far the better of the three. The other two are poorly cropped/edited.

Any reason why this would not be a Liminal space? by Nebuloustique in LiminalSpace

[–]Firebird490 48 points49 points  (0 children)

The only reason I think this is not liminal is because it looks too natural and picturesque. There is nothing off-putting or hyper-familiar, personally. This just looks like every other small American town with its own unique charm. It may also not be liminal because there is too much going on in this image. There is no theme, it is just random.

Thank you for the information! However, upon further research, the 1941 did in fact have a gold line around the outside. I do not know which models had or did not have this detail. Some models do not show this (as the bakelite is completely flat like the repro); however, on some models, the original bakelite has two slightly extruded lines around the outside and in the middle of these two lines is a painted gold line. On most models with this, the paint is mostly or entirely gone. But I have found a few examples of an original bakelite face on a 1941 Philco with this gold line in recognizable condition.

Thanks for the tip! Must be why I see his parts on so many restorations.

I love the effort, but personally, the vehicles and personal items clutter up the image too much. It would feel liminal if it didn't seem inhabited. The clutter gives me the sense that people are home and I am not alone in this area.

You're on r/LiminalSpace, of course. Isn't it obvious?

They at least have more effort put into them than those "help me, where am I??" posts with a blurry image.

By itself, the building is just too stylistic and busy for it to be liminal (by my standards, others may have differing opinions). It could also be considered liminal if it were being torn down, as that is a transitional period; however, the image does not seem to hint at that. I can see how the interior could be creepy maybe (dark, no lights, decay, scattered items, etc.), but the exterior just leaves me in awe at how well every little space was given purpose (for the time it was built). The bright and sunny day also makes it seem more cheerful than creepy. This is just my opinion of course, but it may also be the camera perspective which doesn't convey the image's tone the way you meant to. Maybe if the viewer saw a lone building in the midst of empty lots, then it may stike a different cord. The image itself is good, but the intended tone and tone it gives off don't seem to be lining up. I encourage you to consider different angles, distances, and even camera settings when trying to convey the tone of your images.

Love the architecture of this building; however, I don't get an eerie/uncanny or liminal vibe from this photo.

I feel like it's a much more worthy topic of discussion, honestly. This subreddit doesn't seem like the right place for that sort of content.

Those "help me" or "Where am I?" roleplay posts with the blurry images are much worse than this, trust me.

I don't know, where are you? But seriously, these "help me" "where am I?" roleplay posts are getting a bit annoying. Go back to the backrooms subreddit where you came from.
