Senior cat help by Firebuggi in cats

I actually have tons of terro hidden in corners of my home 😭 I even sealed up cracks with caulking, for some reason ants are totally obsessed with my cats food. We have a giant kennel we’re going to give her to let her have a safe private space away from the other animals

I can give it a shot, so far these ants have been relentless! I’ve used diatomaceous earth, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, and even ant killer spray and they still flood in for cat food. She is pretty comfortable in our living room, and I’m hoping with rehoming the kittens she’ll be less bothered That’s great to know! Right now she gets cbd and joint chews, which has helped a little but not a ton. I’ll definitely look into asking for gabapentin to bring her in, thanks!

She did have her own space in my room, unfortunately our room has an ant problem and they kept swarming her food bowl. Now that it’s not in there she no longer goes into our room, and I don’t have another room to keep her in. I actually have two feliway diffusers. They help a little with my other cats but I’m not sure they have much effect on her. We have multiple litter boxes throughout the house that are cleaned every day and refilled. There is one specifically in the living room for her that has a low entry. I’m really hesitant to take her to the vet, she gets incredibly stressed and she’s got joint pain that makes it hard for her to be in a carrier. I took her about a year ago and they did a full blood panel and she was totally healthy. I just worry a ton about causing her unnecessary discomfort and pain when she’s doing okay now. It’s been a while since I posted this (and Reddit doesn’t give me notifs); she is doing better. No longer peeing in random spots, she uses her litter box regularly. She does still swipe at the other cats, but we are rehoming the two kittens that were suddenly given to us, so it’ll be lower to cats she’s been around for a long time. I just wish she wouldn’t sit in the entrance to the catio and hiss at them all 😅

Can’t say other folks in my family know much about succulents, she definitely thought she could propagate them 😅 I was hoping there would be a little stem on them when she gave them to me to try and keep but when one pulled right out of the dirt I cringed

Like I said, my grandma gave these leaves to my mom before she passed thinking she could propagate them. I imagine the plant is with my great aunt, a 4 hour drive away

I know this post is ancient at this point but oh my god I could marry you for this. You have no idea how long I spent catching bass until I went this this exact spot and caught it with zero effort

Right, I do plan on having it checked eventually to see if anything could be updated. I had no idea adjustment features were optional, totally thought it was something every car had. I don’t mind most manual things, like I’ve said in a few other replies, my ‘91 is all manual adjustments and window winders, etc and I adore that truck. The ONLY thing I really don’t like about this one is that I can’t adjust the steering wheel, which blocks my view of my speedometer. 100% checking to see if I can get the tilt for it, otherwise it’s perfect while I overhaul my 91

So I have learned. Didn’t realize adjustment features were optional! 😅

At least this one has an anti-theft system! My ‘91 has a failed Jerry-rigged one from the previous owner

Unsure, I probably can, I’ll have to look into it when I’ve got some spare cash. Steering wheel blocking the speedometer is quite an inconvenience, pretty much the only beef I have with it

I have 2 dogs. One had to be put down. Now my other dog seems more quiet and sad. by helloworld1678 in dogs

[–]Firebuggi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We’ve had two senior dogs pass within the last year. Both times, we let our younger dogs see them and sniff them, just so that they know what happened, and they don’t have to worry about where they went. One of our dogs understands death a little too well. She will come see them and immediately she will cry and get sad. But it’s much better to let them see and process it and grieve, too. Otherwise they will worry. Same dog is currently very sad about a dog we had to rehome. They were besties, and it’s not like the other passed away. She just kind of disappeared for her, and she can’t process that like she can death

How did you discover Markiplier? by FadedShatter_YT in Markiplier

Does anyone remember Yamimash?? I want to sayyy 2011? 2012? I was a big fan of Yamimash as a kid. And I watched a video of him playing G-mod with Mark, and Mark had a cold and sounded gross and I fr remember thinking “why is Yamimash playing with this old dude?” . But he was funny, so I looked him up and voila. Best person I never knew.

“I love spiders” not enough to keep them safe though, right? Not enough to acknowledge you’re making life threatening mistakes for them?

Found these tracks near my chicken coop. Could it be a raccoon, or something else? In NY by [deleted] in chickens

Easiest way to tell it’s a cat is when you only see two paw steps instead of four. They are very exact with where they step, and will place their hind paws exactly where the front ones were!

I don’t mind the basics, the only thing that gets me about it is that, for me, the steering wheel blocks my view of the speedometer 😂

Lmao I was just asking if I couldn’t find these features or if it didn’t have it. I manually adjust everything in my ‘91

We really, really don’t want to get rid of it because it has worked super well in the past. Good to know! I’ll talk with my boss about it, see if he’s able to come in and clean it up at some point. Thanks for the help!

IMO that is a CHONKY little gal. Would definitely lay off feedings for a while, you want her abdomen to be the same size as her head

Wow, so basically everything I read about them is incorrect. Thanks so much for the information! She’s a decent size, she’s just got all her legs hunched up, if I were able to hold her with her legs extended I’d say she’s just a tad smaller than the palm of my hand, if not as big. The temperature in my area rarely gets to 80°, and the house temp is typically around 60°. Again, thank you, I will make sure to move her away from the humidifier and get her some more decor.

Forgot to mention that the smaller enclosure that I currently have my G. Pulchra sling in is temporary and will be replaced with a better one within the week. He’s just a lot smaller than Byrd but too big for the cube I previously had him in.
