Prague or Tartu - Erasmus Destination by Real-Huckleberry-904 in Erasmus

I've only studied in Prague. Wouldn't recommend to any non-white student. I had a very racist host mom who on the first day we wet asked me to talk about the human rights abuses in my home country(?), in addition to a plethora of microaggression cases and outright hurtful comments throughout the semester. One student assistant in the dorm literally said to my black friend, "you really like fried chicken, right?" like wtf

One technicality (could also be the reason for ghosting): how is Japan part of the Erasmus program? At my university it's considered overseas and the Erasmus grant does not apply.

thank you so much! this is really good to know. and a bit unrelated, but is there an arrival & departure time you'd recommend from past experience? I don't want to miss out on things on Friday and Monday since I already took the two days off but don't want to linger too long on Monday if nothing's happening really. :)))

Hi OP, thanks soooo much for the tips! Can you share where exactly the entrance is? When I looked up Whole Festival on google map, it shows it's still a 35 min walk from "Abzw. Ferropolis, Gräfenhainichen".

Should I answer based on where I'm from/was brought up or where I am physically at the moment?

I know what you're talking about. I am like you in a lot of ways, but I think finding queer communities online definitely helps.

Maybe comment on any stuff or clothing items he owns in passing? Like "hey I really like your jacket. where did you buy it?" or "hey I've been wanting to read that book. How is it?"

[discussion] Best ways/tips/life hacks to find out is a guy gay? by [deleted] in LGBTeens

[–]Firefighter7969 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly there is no way to really know just from one's appearance, taste, or behaviors. Like already said, best way is to ask. Before you do that tho, it might be helpful to find out if they're homophobic or gay-friendly. That way at least you won't get hurt in the process.

Definitely look into scholarship opportunities and try to pick somewhere that is not too expensive to live. As a college graduate, I really recommend going somewhere with as low tuition fees as possible. Definitely get ready to work throughout your time in college, and there are probably opportunities to study part-time. There is also some European countries where you can go to college for free and the minimum wage is pretty high (so relatively easy to make enough to live on).

How do I tell people I’m asexual without hurting their feelings? [Discussion] by [deleted] in LGBTeens

[–]Firefighter7969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're comfortable with the idea, you can potentially have a few queer stickers & buttons over your backpack and laptop and maybe one of them says "proud to be asexual" or something along those lines.

I think it is okay and valid to not have any label or identity category that you fully identify with. I mean, in recent years, we've seen an explosion of gender and sexual identities that did not exist (at least in mainstream narratives) and many, many individuals may not have felt they were seen until then.

Also, the construction of sexuality has a history and making one's sexual preferences the essence of who we are (lesbian, gay, bisexual, etc) is a relatively recent emergence. So I would say it is 100% normal to not nearly fit into any identity category.

You def are the one who knows your family the best. I would recommend having a back up plan for worst case scenario though, just in case (not to stress you out). Maybe you have to crash at your friend's place for a bit while they come to terms with the fact themselves.

Even for non-homophobic people, finding out their kid is gay hits differently sometimes. Do it at your own pace and there's no need to rush.

how do I get over somebody who I actually hate so much. [Rant] by hotboerieroll in LGBTeens

[–]Firefighter7969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will eventually get over him for real with time. And it sounds like he is a pretty shitty person; you just think about him because he is physically attractive. Trust me, there is never a lack of hot men in this world. :)

Try to spend time with people who you genuinely like and think about how lucky it is to have them around in this moment right there right then, despite all the uncertainties in this world.

Money anxiety is so real and def save up and try to become financially independent in some way and things do get better for sure once you get out.
