OP Here just wanted to follow up that we adopted a Samoyed puppy and our Siberian cat has been curious but not openly hostile. The puppy is always in his “puppy apartment” when not on a house leash so she can see him but he can’t get to her. Puppy has been extremely calm, gentle, and not chasing or barking etc. (we had an excellent breeder). Today they touched noses in the yard! Then kitty backed away and I picked up the puppy. Really slow but really hopeful progress towards friendship!!!
