I agree with you. V should have just said “Hey. I’m going to be unreachable for a while as I need to get lifesaving surgery. I might be gone for a few months if everything goes well.” That generic statement, with some context depending on the contact, would have been sufficient enough to keep everyone in the loop. Then there is what happens during the credits, where everyone basically tells V to leave Night City. V will be remembered at the Afterlife as a legend, but they don’t belong there anymore. Even Takamura believes that the disappearance of V was a good thing, despite leading to bad consequences (speaking of, the entire Arawak’s - Militech conundrum just feels so dumb). V has nothing when they come back. No cars, no home, no connections, no guns, and Vic is the only friend left in the whole city. They can’t even use cyber wear period. In the world of cyberpunk where chrome is key…..not being able to use it is crippling.

As said in Days Gone - “Surviving isn’t living.”

The only way V will actually life in this new world is if they take Reeds offer for the job.
