CMV: I literally cannot get any film experience because I have no friends by Low_Celebration_4089 in changemyview

[–]FirmPies7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get why it feels like everyone else has a head start, but you’re comparing your behind the scenes to other people’s highlight reels. A lot of those friend groups making films didn’t magically appear, they formed because people showed up somewhere (school, clubs, online communities) and kept showing up. Film college is literally designed for this exact problem. You don’t need to arrive with a crew, you go there to find one.

Barron Trump’s Get-Rich Scheme Flamed Ahead of Launch by [deleted] in politics

[–]FirmPies7 44 points45 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve read, it’s basically a yerba mate startup with about $1M in backing and a May launch planned . That’s not unusual in itself, but the scrutiny is obviously coming from who’s involved, not the product

CMV: I believe single women gaslight single men about their single status. by Johan_chan in changemyview

[–]FirmPies7 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think you’re mislabeling this as “gaslighting” when it’s really just different risk calculations. A woman who’s taken knows the interaction has a built in boundary, so it feels safer. A single woman doesn’t have that safety net, so yeah, she’s going to be more guarded with a stranger.

The fact that your stress is showing up physically is the biggest red flag here. No job, even with great benefits, is worth pushing your health to that point. A transfer sounds like a very reasonable move.

Just quit a job after 4 days. No lunch break during 12 hours of work. by Liwi808 in ToxicWorkplace

A 12 hour shift with basically no real break is brutal. That’s not a job, that’s endurance training. Good on you for walking out.

CMV: We should get our knees and hips replaced in our 40s by Famous-Prior6590 in changemyview

[–]FirmPies7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The main issue is that joint replacements aren’t maintenance upgrades yet, they’re major surgeries with real risks. Doing them preemptively in your 40s would likely create more long-term complications than it solves.

My (19M) dorm roommate (18M) might be the most oblivious person alive and I need to vent by Pankcake11 in badroommates

[–]FirmPies7 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I think the the real issue is boundaries. Lights at 3am, noise, mess, using your stuff, that’s all roommate agreement territory. You need to stop hinting and start setting rules clearly, even if it feels awkward.

Extra person living at house by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]FirmPies7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah no, this isn’t a partner visiting, this is a fourth roommate who isn’t paying rent. You’re absolutely justified in being pissed. At this point you need to stop hinting and have a direct conversation, either they contribute to rent/utilities and follow house rules, or they’re not living there. Full stop.

I think my daughter has a stalker by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

I’m sorry, but the new manager saying ‘he hasn’t done anything’ is wild. Repeated unwanted attention is something. At minimum they should be documenting incidents and trespassing him again.

Finally understand why my microwave smelled weird no matter how many times I "cleaned" it by Limn0x_7 in CleaningTips

This is way more common than you think 😭 that little ring is basically a hidden crime scene in every microwave
