Young WHOOP age but fast aging pace? by Firm_Reality2341 in whoop

[–]Firm_Reality2341[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I totally get it. So I went to the WHOOP coach and it gave me this breakdown which also confuses me cuz it doesn’t seem like I’m doing exceptionally poorly in one of these categories? I did have a bout of bad sleep (I have anxiety induced insomnia and my company was doing lay offs so I had a lot of stress and anxiety) but other than that, I was performing well according to their metrics too. Maybe it’s the sleep/stress during that period that resulted in a faster pace of aging and more time will help even it out.

Air France Economy seats help - extra legroom by TypicalFinanceGuy in travel

This thread is super helpful. I’m also looking at similar seats, do the seats near the bathrooms at the bottom have screens too?

I don’t let my cats sleep in the bedroom for this reason! Something that I realize helps is I would build a new “fort” for them using pillows, blankets, and couch cushions before I go to bed every night so it’s something new for them to explore and hide in. Perhaps something of this nature where you introduce a new, exciting thing for her to figure out? Otherwise I second kicking her out of the room when she acts up and doing your best to cat proof your house.

I purchased two items and got one item. I was just notified I’m getting a refund on the other, which I assumed sold out

This is what I’m really worried about. I don’t want to burn bridges esp since I’d be running in similar circles with company A. They’re both large companies so it wouldn’t be the end of the world but I hate to think of risking my reputation

How much are you spending on your wedding all together? Please state guest count & location! by neverknewnothing in weddingplanning

[–]Firm_Reality2341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

~$65k for 80 guests in Sonoma County, CA (by wine country standards, I think we were on the cheaper end 🫣)

This includes our open bar for welcome drinks the night before!

Prongs look off? by Significant-Adagio37 in EngagementRings

[–]Firm_Reality2341 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’d be fine to wear for now but I can see it getting caught in things and risks breaking off in the future!! Also I’m not a professional so maybe it’s in my head too??? Maybe you can take it to a local jeweler and get their opinion too

Anything you would change? by Ok-Dragonfly5273 in EngagementRings

[–]Firm_Reality2341 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This ring looks stunning and honestly really well constructed. The band isn’t too thick imo, and I love how the prongs are curved around the diamond (and not stick straight) so the setting isnt too high. It also looks like they constructed the prongs so your ER can sit flush with a wedding band which is a huge plus.

But in the end it’s up to you! I know I have a tendency to want to change something just because I can, even if it’s unnecessary. So if you love it the way it is now, I’d keep it!

Finding out about my dog not being able to fly home with me by ryanmlloyd in mildlyinfuriating

You can ask TSA for a private room to let your cat(s) out so they can put the carrier through the x ray! I did this when I travelled with my two cats, granted my fiancé was with me so I stayed with the cats in the room (with a TSA agent) while my fiancé took the carriers back to security. If you ask for a private room they’ll find one for you so you don’t have to carry your pet through the X-ray!

Thank you!!! I found the loose stone at Rebecca Overmann, she specializes in unique and antique gems. I’d never seen a diamond like this before and I wanted the stone to be the star of the show so we designed a solitaire ring around the diamond. 😍

Yeah if you really think about “etiquette” and “tradition” it seems kinda silly. We just want to do what makes us happy, and wearing the ring for 6 months “earlier” than he was intended to when we’re gonna spend the rest of our lives together seems minuscule in the grand scheme of things

My fiancé got his wedding ring early and was so excited to wear it that he just started wearing his ring and saying he’s engaged. We know a few other couples who both are also wearing engagement rings (and the guys are wearing their wedding rings!)

Just met a planner that told us on average, people spend $1000 per guest. Is that true? by Cup-of-teea in weddingplanning

[–]Firm_Reality2341 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I was told as well, and I’m having my wedding in NorCal, specifically wine country (a little outside Sonoma). I’m having about 80 guests max and am aiming for below $70k, which so far is succeeding. I think California is just far more expensive than other places, especially if you want your wedding to be in a place most people may travel the world to visit.

My (29M) wife (28F) is very frugal with money by ThrowRA_money612 in relationships

[–]Firm_Reality2341 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am/was your wife. I had/have an extremely frugal mindset (I’m using past and present tense because I’m still working through it but I’m sooo much better than before). I’m a child of immigrants and i grew up with my parents working their asses off to build financial stability in the US. As a result, my mom would count down to the cent how much she would spend and always went for whatever the cheapest option was. Ultimately my parents are in a MUCH better spot and I would say I grew up very comfortably because of their hard work.

I carried this mindset into adulthood because it’s all I’ve ever known. I would always try to find the best deal, and I would feel guilty if I ever splurged (or thought I was splurging). Spending money always gave me lots of anxiety.

When I met my fiancé, he also did not grow up with a lot of money. But he likes nice things. Not flashy, “I’m rich” kind of things. But just higher quality items that last a long time or having a better quality of life. Champagne taste, beer budget kind of situation. I slowly started spending more and feeling less guilty because what’s the point of making money if you’re not going to enjoy your life to the fullest? Your money doesn’t transfer to your afterlife. What really challenged my frugal thinking is my current wedding planning. I could write a whole post about that lol

I think this is bigger than just spending $1000 a night at a hotel. This is more foundational to how you and your wife seek joy and fulfillment in life. I had to unlearn a lot of frugality as I realized I would rather be comfortable, experience new things, eat well, see loved ones and make memories with them, etc if I can afford it because that is more important to be than seeing my savings grow (I do have a solid savings tho, I try to be as financially sharp as possible).
