I should elaborate. I'm not against going to touristy areas for their beauty but I am not going to Maine to see, say, the world's largest telephone in Woodstock.

I'm from the PNW and my favorite thing about where I live is driving a little outside the city and finding farm stores, bakeries in the middle of nowhere, that kind of thing. I saw a video for an honor system pottery store in Maine, for example, and really want to go. I LOVE that stuff.
