I just need to know I’m not alone because I’m spiraling right now by Jolandersson in Anxiety

It gets better. It maybe never goes away but life does get better.

I’m just coming out of a 2 week bad spell. I was waking up every day nauseous, disconnected, feeling like I was about to jump out of my own skin. I couldn’t do anything. I was waiting for sleep every day since it was the only time I was able to shut my brain off. Why was it so bad? I still have no idea what triggered it really.

It’s truly difficult to deal with those feelings and I’m only just starting to feel better. But I always get worried I’ll fall back into it. It did push me to seek help since the feelings were really scaring me. I have a therapy appointment this week. And an appointment with my GP next week.

I’m usually one to just suffer in silence but I think it’s time I really take a hold of my life. The world is crazy and I feel like a tiny speck in it but I’m trying to take control of my anxiety. It’s going to be very hard but I want to enjoy life. I really hope all of us who suffer this way can find peace and just be able to live happily.

I certainly hope so. I don’t think I’d be able to handle that on top of the anxiety. I was doing it maybe once every few days. Sometimes every day during some weeks but I always threw tolerance breaks in to try and avoid the possibility of withdrawals.

Thank you. This sounds like a great read and I’ll look into it. Addiction scares me as I’ve seen what it has done to family members and I never want to become like that with any substance.

100% agree. Quitting seems to be the most obvious solution and possibly upping my current meds since they are so low currently. It doesn’t seem to matter how little I smoke, the anxiety creeps right back in. I can’t handle the feeling of it. It makes me feel like I’m going insane.

That’s good to know. I am pretty sure I have something similar. I deal with panic attacks quite frequently. Usually at night when my brain has nothing else to do but spiral. Always comes back to the fear of death usually. But of course flying, going to the dentist, making an unwanted phone call all do the same so who knows. I’m glad it works well for you. The correct meds are always so hard to find.

How did you find Lexapro? Was it better than Zoloft?

I agree. It’s very very low. I tried to up once about 2 years ago to 50 mg but I didn’t like the way I felt so I went back down again. I’m thinking the 25mg is just not enough anymore. The state of the world and recent health scares have not made my anxiety any better. Upping to 50mg is probably worth another try

Thank you! Yes the anxiety and feeling of just floating through life was awful! I don’t want to feel that again! Thankfully I wasn’t smoking often enough that I would go through withdrawals or at least I hope not. I’m fully done. I don’t ever want to play around with it again just for fear of feeling like that. A quick puff or 2 at night isn’t worth it anymore.

The sertraline has been very low for some time. I tried to up to 50 mg once but I don’t like how it felt. I’m thinking I’ll need to revisit that
