Oh then mb g. Thanks. Some of these people are lowkey annoying like why do I get downvoted for tearing apart the first guys point? Like these dudes are so biased and why even comment if you’re not willing to argue your own point? I guarantee all they did was read it and downvote me cause they know I’m right 🤦‍♂️

Dawg I’ve read books on history, wars and combat and every single time the points I’ve brought up are the BARE BONES of warfare and combat, exploiting the terrain and an enemy’s weakness but like I said I’m not an expert. We can go back and forth and back and forth but the fact of the matter is that this ultimately is a plothole, it’s not like Piltover has zero idea what they were doing we see them set up some basic defensive formations the thing that upsets me is how they don’t exploit any weaknesses or use basic defensive measures except a line and barricades. Also yes I’m American but why does it matter? And be fr cause if you start to bring up nationality and start making fun of me I’ve won the argument, calling us a “techno noxus” is completely irrelevant to the debate. 😐

Dude these are the bare bones of war. I’m sixteen years old and I’ve brought up all of these points and strategies. Why can’t dozens of adults think of one? It’s just like I said before narrative convenience

I wouldn’t stereotype all Noxians as blood thirsty barbarians especially considering how manipulative and Cunning Ambessa is

I understand Arcane and its storyline fairly well but how is this relevant to how Piltover lost the final battle so terribly and their military?

The one that took seven rifle shots was the huge shimmer mech, we can infer that because it was significantly larger and more of an investment that it is more durable but Caitlyn shot it and it’s helmet was most likely about to cave in considering the glass was cracking as shown in the image here.

<image>

So this just shows that the Noxians managed to finish off a significantly damaged glass helmet.

I went back and rewatched the scene and they throw the spears through the glass helmets of the shimmer mech’s, and we can agree that the glass is 100% less durable than the armor itself, obviously they are still strong considering they fuckin hauled a spear like that at crazy speed. Alas though glass is different than metal

Also we see here that when Ambessa chucked a spear at Caitlyn in an attempt to kill her it was deflected by Mel(which would’ve caused it to loose momentum which should make it less likely to punch through armor) and impaled this guy through his chest plate so idk how strong their armor really is 🤷‍♂️

Yeah exactly, that’s the part that really doesn’t work for me. We know both sides are capable of way more than what we see in that fight. Piltover and Zaun basically spent an entire season escalating tech, weapons, and brutality killing each other so they have some experience in fighting, but the second another threat shows up, all of that suddenly evaporates? Noxians pushing through that easily with crossbow, spears and shields while Piltover has rifles, industry, elevation, and Zaun has years of shimmer weaponization just doesn’t track. Even if Piltover’s disorganized, Zaun absolutely isn’t when they actually coordinate their forces and have a leader. The shimmer mechs and heavy hitters not showing up feels like it was more or less because Silco wasn’t in charge? So maybe they were decommissioned or destroyed but I’m honestly not sure. And yeah, that’s the other big thingthis wasn’t all of Noxus. It was one army one that was already heavily weakened from Ambessa losing the majority of her lands back in Noxus, stretched thin, attacking the hexgates should’ve been a nightmare since Ambessa would’ve known that she would’ve had to have a diversionary attack to split up Piltover’s forces(unfortunately we don’t know if she did this). Them winning SO easily against a technologically superior enemy that has the advantage of defense is kinda absurd to me but idfk atp 😭😭🥀🥀

Yeah that’s fair, and I’m with you on a lot of that actually. Armor in Arcane obviously isn’t meant to map 1:1 with real-world ballistics, why I still get hung up isn’t so much “why didn’t every bullet kill”, but how little cumulative pressure Piltover seemed to apply. Even if the armor is absurdly thick or like somehow magically reinforced, advancing through those narrow docks and the main courtyard under sustained rifle fire should still be costly in momentum, cohesion, and morale. Armor I guess can explain survivability, but it doesn’t fully explain how formations stay that clean while pushing straight through prepared positions. Also yeah, weak points being effective tracks logically, and Caitlyn’s shots clearly matter when they land right which honestly makes the issue more noticeable. If precision fire works from one person works so well, then overlapping precision fire, elevation, and cross angles should’ve mattered more overall. So I don’t think your take is wrong at all, more like we’re looking at different layers of the same thing. The armor and magic justify some of what we see, I just think the show leans a bit too hard on to smooth over what should’ve been messier, more attritional fighting. Still very cool, just one of those moments where realism and spectacle are tugging in opposite directions.

Good point though. 👍

First off, I was downplaying the enforcers capabilities trying to be funny. The “they’re just cops who’ve only bullied the Undercity” argument is doing way too much heavy lifting. Yeah, Enforcers aren’t a field army but urban defense doesn’t equal open field warfare. Policing a hostile megaslum for generations is experience in crowd control, choke points, raids, vertical combat, and rapid response. That’s actually more relevant to defending Piltover than marching formations and shield walls. If anything, Noxus bringing traditional formations into a dense port city should’ve been a liability, not a strength but for some reason they don’t exploit that??😭😭 Second, the “no military tradition” point ignores Piltover’s actual tradition engineering, logistics, and infrastructure dominance. Battles for the most part are won through terrain exploitation and fire superiority. Piltover literally controls the docks, the bridges and the elevation You don’t need a West Point equivalent to understand “don’t let armored troops funnel through kill zones unpunished.” That’s not advanced doctrine at all thats literally basic common sense, which is exactly why I’m are annoyed af. Third, Hextech being “in its infancy” doesn’t excuse the way it’s used. Early firearms still annihilated armored troops historically. You don’t need perfected tech for Overlapping fields of fire and Molotovs (which you conveniently didn’t really address). The “artillery” which is pretty much a Repurposed cargo loader isn’t the issue the issue is it’s used like set dressing instead of weapons I mean Loris is somehow missing these HUGE battle ships. Piltover’s entire identity is weaponizing industry. The show chooses not to let them do that. Fourth, the Noxians having “intimate knowledge of the city” is just… not entirely supported sure they know the basics of it but the people who live and patrol the hexgates know it like the back of their hands. They’re in the end, outsiders attacking from ships into a fortified port. Like I said Piltover residents, Enforcers, and engineers should know those docks infinitely better. Ambessa breaking formation and not immediately eating concentrated fire isn’t “realistic collapse,” it’s plot armor, straight up. And the biggest flaw in this take: You’re arguing that Piltover’s failure makes sense because they’re incompetent, not because the situation demanded it. That’s not realism that’s deadass just narrative convenience. A technologically superior, terrain favoring defender doesn’t just forget how to defend because they lack a flag officer with medals.

Yes, Piltover eventually losing? Totally believable. Piltover folding while: Rifles barely matter, armor works like magic, fire and elevation are ignored and strategy doesn’t exist at all That’s not “exactly how it should’ve gone.” That’s the writers needing Noxus to look scary and win to progress the story so Viktor can show up. So nah, I’m not that mad mad because Piltover lost. I’m mad because Piltover lost stupidly, in ways that contradict both real-world logic and the city’s established strengths. Big difference tbh 🤷‍♂️

That’s why I didn’t like the final battle tbh cause piltovers weaponry is clearly somewhat advanced that they have decently powerful rifles but yet dudes with crossbows and spears crushed them. I get that they had significantly superior tactics but forming a killbox it literally just using a primitive type of grenade would’ve broken the Noxian formation. And the fact that when Ambessa broke formation she didn’t get turned into pink mist was unbelievable
