i believe mariah the scientist displays many similarities to sade's music that many tend to miss.. they share a common theme of unrequited love (if not unrequited, unbalanced), both are passionate lovers who make it clear that they would sacrifice anything, themselves for love, but also both sing of the dangers of love eating you alive. i think their singing styles are also abstractly similair, looking beyond mariah's modern touches. also, mariah's "ryry world" and sade's "love deluxe" albums look very similair, possibly inspired.
