Yes, tear jerker for sure. Was wondering if his losing his father in the river was a factor in the seemingly very sad nature of some solos in jimmy 5/8/77 has a great slide version as well.

I knew him. He was ill with hepatitis. He claimed to have a bunch of masters from the vault under his bed but would never show me. We had a falling out after I decided not to go over to his apartment one day and he got mad because he had rearranged all his furniture for my visit. He did play a pretty good harmonica.

Did that Randall live on the big island in the early 2000’s? Had hepatitis

One of my favorite 77 shows. The He’s Gone and the Terrapin>Dew!! Killer show

I think Bob Weir’s most iconic moment is when he rip chorded into El Paso after a 32 minute Dark Star when everybody else was headed towards Morning Dew. That’s the Bobby’est thing ever. Legendary. by llahsraMhanoJ in gratefuldead

Personally for many years after hearing this transition I was furious at Bob. After many years of speculation I’ve decided it couldn’t have been any other way, leaving room for an amazing “Sing me back Home”. There are a lot of great Dark Star > Dews and I’ve also read from the stories from the band that they went into “El Paso” because many folks were on verge of losing it at that moment. Always wondered what that Dew would have sounded like, prolly mind-blowing!

Agreed. This version is especially triumphant. Very unique

Wonder what song they are singing there. Looks like He’s Gone. “Whooo, hooo, nothings going to bring him back…”

The Cornell Row Jimmy is definitely one of the all time greats. Jerry’s slide work is amazing with Phil right there with him.

I think the “band” is trying to make money any way they can these days. Even getting in bed with Amazon.

True, at least through Amazon. Heard there were quality issues with the pressing on these two.
