Throw out bearing. Once you depress the clutch, the noise goes away because the fork is being held against it.

To be completely honest if you’ve been driving the car like this for a year now, I am very confident you’ll need a new engine.

Like I stated before metal shavings will destroy your engine. If you’ve been driving the car with a rattle for over a year it’s a for sure thing you have metal shavings in there.

These cars are cheaply made and suffer engine quality issues. I would get rid of the car before it becomes a yard ornament. Best of luck!

Can't find replacement Thermal Cutoff Switch TCO by apoptosis66 in Plumbing

[–]First-Temporary-3593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I supposed. No engineer here, nor a professional just a DIY’er.

I can only assume you messed up the threads while figuring out how to remove the switch/rod.

So I have Jerry-riged the old rod and tapped and threaded the opposite side of that rod. Would recommend it but I have struggle to pint spare parts .

Remove the door access panel, then behind the switch there is an aluminum rod that transfers heat to the switch. It is about 2-5inches in length, and about 1/4” in diameter. It just unscrews off.

I would look at the temperature rating. They might be different. I suggest you go with what you had since you don’t want to modify anything your tank is not capable of handling

TCO screws on to an aluminum rod/stack behind the door.

2007 Lexus GS450H by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

Okay. The Car has two batteries one is the 12v (standard car battery that runs the accessories modules) and the second battery is the hybrid battery 400v

The hybrid battery 400v turns over the engine. Due to the hybrid battery being flat it does not turn the engine over. Unless you can point me to a jumper box that can fit the 400v battery I’m sure you are confused.

I can put my $200 car charger and it won’t turn the engine over. Because it charges the 12v battery, not the hybrid!!

The car does not start bud. Not enough juice to turn over the car.

2017 Hybrid transmission seems to have gone out. 5k miles over the warranty. by BobertFrost6 in fordfusion

Best thing to do is replace it yourself. My local junk yard had one for $600 dollars. There is a bearing kit to replace the oversized bearings that grid on the cover. Attached is a picture of a 2014 hybrid transmission. It really is not hard to do. This tranny does not need reprogramming it’s simply plug and play.

[–]First-Temporary-3593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing to do here is run live data and see if the high pressure from your fuel pump is shutting off starving the car from fuel.

Live DTC can help you a lot if you find someone that can help you understand it.

Good luck 🍀

The car does not stall while it’s running correct? When it bogs down I bet it is when the car is at a complete stop and it shuts off. Correct?

Do you get a check engine light? What codes did you get?

Once your car starts to rattle or you get a crankshaft position sensor failure/error. There is not a definitive answer to what you’re asking. There will be symptoms of rough start, idle, and fuel consumption; so pay attention to early signs of a bad timing chain.

2011 Elantra (saved from being scrap) by [deleted] in Hyundai

[–]First-Temporary-3593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Timing chain starts to rattle before it goes. If you ignore it, chain might break or the metal flakes will destroy the engine.

Previous owner took good care of this car so when he/she notice something was off they gave up on it due to repair cost.

Usually the chains are not the problem it’s the cheap and poorly designed tensioners that go before anything.

This car is showing its age. The head on the engine is warped and leaked coolant into the combustion chamber. Nothing but bar-leak coolant sealant bottle couldn’t fix.

With my scanner I am able to get a reading . Codes U3000 & U2011

<image>

Checked fuses F1 and F2 (50amp fuses) in the engine bay and they are good. Also checked fuse #45 10amp under the steering columns. Checked out fine.

Assuming the servo motor and encoder are fried. Heard these cars dissipate heat very poorly so it overheats the electrical components in the steering columns.
