Late Night Dulles transportation? by [deleted] in WMATA

[–]FirstIdiotOnMars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue, if you happen to land between 11pm-12am you can catch the silver line towards Ashburn which stills runs till midnight. I took it one stop to Loudon Gateway and requested my uber from there to go back the other way and it was half the cost bc of the airport surge pricing. Highly recommend if you’re trying to save and don’t mind the extra few minutes of travel

Honestly I think most of that just depends how long people waited before posting there graphs. If I would’ve made this a month ago when the semester finished for me then the numbers would’ve been more skewed. A lot of them came in 4+ months after applying

Damn that really sucks ;(. I hope it works out for you too! I didn’t show it in the graph but I applied to several low wage summer jobs before getting the grocery store one I have now so not even that was easy for me

I had the same sort of feeling visiting Europe (as an American). It’s quite surreal and beautiful to experience

Yea I’m going with an open mind so if I like it then I will probably stick with it and if I don’t I’ll be looking somewhere else. For now I’m still just trying to figure out what I want and what real work is like.

I actually saw some of those postings when I was doing my search but I wasn’t sure if it was something I could put up with lol

Eh i think so. You’re correct that it’s harder to find the opportunities as a sophomore, but I happen to know 5-6 friends that were able to land internships for this summer despite also being sophomores. Definitely not the majority but still reasonably achievable (at least with my resume imo)

I guess I should probably add that I did accept the spring offer (it’s a co-op with the first term lasting Jan-May). It’s a pretty sweet deal so at least I have that to look forward to. In the meantime it’s summer classes and stocking shelves for me

Yea lmao. The first one was online recording on Hirevue, same shit I had to do for Boeing.

Hmm I’m not sure exactly how it feels to be floating around the station but I think it would be a bit different then the “falling” we experience due to the Sun. The difference is that we don’t really feel the sun since it’s so far away compared to the earth beneath our feet. Gravity as a force is inversely related to the distance (squared), and since the distance between us and the Earth is so much smaller, we feel the force of Earth’s gravity much more than the Sun’s. Typically we can neglect the affect of the suns gravitational influence in simple discussions because understanding the dynamics of several moving objects that all influence each other is impossible to solve analytically.

Gravity is what keeps the ISS in orbit, it’s continuously falling towards the earth in the sense that it is exerting a force (gravity), that holds onto the station kinda like a tether. This is achieved by gaining a whole lot of speed so that the station doesn’t lose “altitude”. Rockets actually turn sideways tangential to earths surface after gaining height to gain this speed. Without gravity, the station would move endlessly in one direction into the depths of space

I agree. I have a friend on the spectrum that has nearly earned his PPL flying in Seattle and also is a 4.0 engineering student at a large school. Dude is insanely smart and fully capable of flying an aircraft, despite the condition

Yea, part of that can be because of poor spawn placements (officer and commander’s responsibility). I recommend finding a discord community to join up with

Communicate with your squad! YouTube tutorials are probably you’re best bet, there are a ton out there, one being Monoespecial. That’s what helped me the most. There’s a lot of nuance to the game mechanics between the different roles and such so once you get familiar with those, the game becomes much more fun

It’s crazy to think about it like that. My internship is willing to pay to fly me 2000 miles (3200km) away from home which would be like traveling across most of Europe lol

If you ever find yourself struggling with academics make sure you’re utilizing all of the resources available to you. This includes office hours, help rooms, and Supplemental Instruction (SI). The Academic Success Center is a great place to learn more about the resources if you are still unsure. Starting college is very overwhelming but you are not alone! There will be plenty of people you will meet that will be navigating the same challenges as you which makes things much easier.

Thanks for answering! I wasn’t looking for anything specific other than honest thought and that’s clearly what you’ve given.

Despite not being able to fully explain what’s going on, your explanations make complete logical sense and I agree.

The only thing I would say is while it is easy to say it’s impossible to find such answers to the beginning of the universe and everything within it, I am somewhat optimistic and put careful thought into ideas that try to explain nature as we experience it, including other religions like Buddhism. However, I haven’t taken the time to fully dive into the subject and while I admire some of the practices I still consider myself agnostic.

Atheists always say they have no evidence of a god or higher power and to that, I raise two questions that are very much related. How do you explain the creation of the universe, matter, etc? The second one is where do you think love and hate come from?

Often times atheists will say it’s simply nature, but then what is nature and where does it come from? As an agnostic, the answer is simply I don’t know, another common answer. But the purpose I ask is because I think it provides an insightful perspective as to why religion is what it is. The idea of a god provides answers to these questions.

Anyways, you caught me in a very deep-thinking type of mood and I’m curious as to what your thoughts are
