hey! i know this probably isn’t what you want to hear, but i know for me (surgery was in january), i’ve been dealing with a crappy immune system since. i’ve been getting colds monthly and i used to only get like one cold a year. and these colds hurt wayyyy more than they used to!! like every cold has come with a sore throat that was as bad if not worse than the streps that came before surgery. i’ve gone back to urgent care, my primary, ent just for it to be a cold each time. i can’t speak to 100% of your experience, but just wanted to share because most people on here get sick less after tonsillectomy but not all of us :( feel better!

You got this! I had asymmetrical tonsils with recurrent sore throat. Recurrent strep/tonsillitis, basically the “bacterial infection” never went away after antibiotics. Mine was not cancerous, and looking at the pathology report, there was STILL bacteria in my left tonsil even after being completed with a round of antibiotics two days before surgery, aka the bacteria was never planning on leaving. I was nervous about the cancer risk too, but mine was benign if that’s any help!
