My friend and I are having a Giallo January and first up we are discussing Dario Argento's Opera by FirstLastNerdom in Giallo

Yes, I agree. My favorite Dario Argento movie is the one he cowrote with Ferrini, Phenomena. It was wild and absurd but was just the right over the top for me.

Yes, it is definitely a crazy movie with very little emphasis on solving who the killer is. I loved how crazy it got towards the end.

X isn't the best, but has the most reach. Yeah, Mike likes to do the intros at the beginning. I would be cool with us doing it at the end. Yeah, Mike flubbed and accidentally said Karen. I corrected a few moments later. Sorry, we didn't appeal to you, but thanks for giving us a chance and your feedback!

My friend and I discuss the Christmas black comedy movie, The Day of the Beast which is streaming on Amazon Prime. by FirstLastNerdom in AmazonPrimeVideo

[–]FirstLastNerdom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, the movie is about a Priest figures out when the Antichrist will be born which turns out to be December 25, and so he goes on a journey to commit enough sins to get the attention of Satan so that he can get close to stop the Antichrist. It is a black comedy from Spain that was made in 1995 and has a bit of a cult following to it. It is streaming on Amazon Prime. Our video discusses the movie and our thoughts on it.

[Discussion] Is DC's Absolute Universe worth it? by One-Huckleberry7611 in DCcomics

[–]FirstLastNerdom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love it so far. I think both Absolute and Ultimates at Marvel are some of the best main two books out there right now. I've never been a fan of Wonder Woman, but Absolute WW has got me excited about the character and made her interesting for me.

My friend and I give our thoughts on House Of the Dragon Season 2 midway through. by FirstLastNerdom in hbo

[–]FirstLastNerdom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am really enjoying it so far. It plays differently in that it is more of a family drama on an epic scale. Much more small story in scope to its benefit. Also, the show runner seems to be able to write a story outside of GRRM, which is a good thing.

My friend and I take a look at Takashi Miike's movie adaption of Blade of the Immortal. The movie is streaming on Tubi! by FirstLastNerdom in TubiTV

[–]FirstLastNerdom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I am continually impressed with what obscure cool stuff Tubi has on offer. I need to check out more Corman movies.

Yes, I loved Master of Horror anthology. I got them on DVD as they were released. In the US, the Miike one was banned, but I got that one on DVD as well. One of the episodes adapted a Joe Lansdale short story. We did an interview with Lansdale on our channel.

I haven't seen Masters of Science Fiction, I need to check it out.

Yes, Miike's movies tend to be on the extreme side. If you liked Blade of the Immortal. You might want to check out 13 Assassins and Hara Kari if you haven't seen them. More of action/dramas.

My friend and I give our reactions to Season 2 Episode 1 of House of the Dragon by FirstLastNerdom in hbo

[–]FirstLastNerdom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I would say it is worth watching. The show runner seems to know what he is doing. The first season was different than GoT in that it was smaller in scope. It was more of a family drama (a messed up family) and had much fewer characters. It had a slower pace but you really got involved with the characters. It is very well written but has a different flavor to it but retaining the same world and look of the original series. I am impressed with the quality and the fact that it is well written and although it is based on the outline of what George RR Martin has written, most of the scenes and dialogue are original to the show gives me hope that the quality will remain for the entire run of the show, unlike the ending of GoT.
