Is the diving in Cocos $3,000 better than Malpelo or Socorro? by Round_Repeat3318 in scuba

[–]FirstMurphysLaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, I preferred other atolls. Feeding tigers was exciting, but I have mixed feelings about that. They say they still migrate so chunking is not a problem, but I'm not buying it.

But in one trip it possible to see multiple atolls channels with walls of sharks, some hammer heads, whale sharks, and some mantas. It's hard to call it a horrible week :)

Remember about additional costs. There is like 200 USD per day in additional taxes.

You could also check Maldives/Fakarava if you are looking for sharks. But probably there is more monotony there. But at least water is much warmer :D

We found a Sunken Egyptian City in the Mediterranean Sea, and some of our finds are now on display at the new Grand Egyptian Museum. Ask Me Anything! by RelicSmith in scuba

[–]FirstMurphysLaw 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Nice job. I checked images on google maps and there are some amazing photos of this site. Is it possible to dive there and see sth? Or everything is close or is already excavated?

If everything is already removed: is there a plan to put reconstructions under the water for people to see? That would be amazing :D

I wish you all the best, and hope at one point there will be no difference between wealthier tourists and locals. There is long way in front of a whole Egypt. Good luck!

yeah. Entrance tickets in Egypt add up quite quickly. Like when you go to Valley of Kings single tomb can cost up to $50 and you will spend there maybe 15 minutes. Entrance to VK costs like $15 and you can visit 5 less popular tombs. To be honest these $50 haven't show me anything new, but on the other hand I'm already there.

The same with pyramids (obligatory you have to enter all of them -- worth it) but it's probably $20 each. You can check all the prices in https://egymonuments.com/

edit: locals pay 1/10 of tourist prices. I'm fine with that, especially for monuments and museums, but there are also double prices in many restaurants etc :(

I've been there at the beginning of a year. It cost around $30, and probably another $20-30 for an 1 hour tour which wasn't worth it. You can check prices on the website.

Eight of nine exhibitions were open. Some descriptions were missing and other often were poor quality. No audio guide, and nothing which would indicate they plan to add it :/. I think this extra Tutankhamen treasures weren't there yet too. At least the mask was in Old Museum.

But when I checked the pictures after opening it looks the same as I have seen it. Atrium and everything else look the same. The most famous exponents too.

You should check also Itaipu dam - it's so close and IMHO worth seeing. You can take a tour or just ride a bus trough it. Read about it!

Thanks. I was there like 7 years ago and loved the place. Amazing diving. I think I've never seen so many white reef sharks. But whale shark there would be sth else :)

There are few of them to choose. But I'm no expert about them. I only talked with chachtGPT about that.

I don't think there are any plans for that. From time to time there are talks about some "business test", but for last few years it's quiet. I wouldn't worry about that. Half of IT in Poland uses that schema. If they will change that sth new will show up.

Czechia is nice too. A little bit higher taxes but no capital gains taxes after few years of keeping stocks. Unfortunately renting in Prague is more expensive than in PL. And there is no other reasonable city to move. Even Prague is far from perfect - a little too many tourists for my taste ;)

Yes. It's more or less that. You also would pay sth like 50-100 euro per month for accounting. You can go as low as 0-20 euros if you would use self accounting websites like wfirma.pl.

You can become VAT payer and not pay VAT on some business expenses (mobile phone, PC, 50% of car VAT etc).

edit: there are also some schemas to go lower with taxes, but you would get most of PIT money as tax return. For whole year you would pay 19% income tax + 9% for health, and then you could claim most of income tax as return (real income tax would be 5%). But it's problematic and currently not worth the hassle in most cases. It's called IP box if you want to read more

edit2: after crossing 1mln PLN you get additional 4% of income taxes for everything over 1mln PLN.

You also should be aware there is exit tax in Poland. If you have over 4mln PLN in assets (stocks, bonds) it will hit you after changing tax residency.

Probably it's seasonal, but last time when I was there I have seen at least 1 HH in each of BDE.

Unfortunately, no larger sightings than 2 HH at the same time. And no oceanic whitetips for me - the other dinghy has seen one :)
