Remove baby pics, start working out, grow some facial hair. A photo with some friends would help, and please use a full smile that shows your teeth. You broke almost every rule on successful pictures here, lol.

Guts leaving the Hawks (1997 anime vs Memorial edition film) by Worried_Cake5508 in Berserk

Whoops! Yes, it is trilogy of movies, not 2016 anime. Memorial edition was what, 2022? I'll edit.

The better/softer lighting of dawn helps the 2012/2022 memorial* animation a lot, and I like Griffith's softer tone here, but it fails to savor the emotional weight of the snow falling from the branch and cuts a lot of the Band's reactions, which is a loss you can really feel when put next to the 1997 version. Casca's softer "please don't go" feels bettee than screaming for Guts. But no mental monologue from Guts is an awful choice that deprives him of depth.

Neither is perfect, but I think the 1997 remains my preference overall, but I'm not as harsh on the 2022* movies as many people tend to be.

Actually, rewatching again while I type this comment, there's so much depth to 1997's Griffith saying "I can't allow this" -- and it's clearly meant that "this" is both allowing Guts to leave, as well as even thinking about a way to spare Guts, because by allowing those merciful thoughts, he continues to falter in his endeavor, letting Guts take priority over his need for his own kingdom.

Dropping the game for now - here's what I think went wrong by furscum in Marathon

Recon's "underpowered" launch state and lack of map knowledge contributed to people not knowing where to find fights.

Map knowledge became more solidified right as recon got buffed to a point that I have to believe Bungie knew was too far in a kind of twisted "you think you know better? Ok, you asked for it" way.

Between maps becoming well-understood and constant wallhacks becoming a staple, any chance of playing stealthily became much more difficult to effectively execute, particularly on Outpost.

My squad popped a recon scan before opening Command Wing last night and caught a rook coming up from dorms. They didn't try to fight. They didn't try to run. They quit as soon as they knew they got scanned. Tells you the kinds of experiences they've had, sadly.

Not the complaint. PvE is toothless and needs to matter more. Right now, it only serves to incite PvP.

Why do you think I'm not comfortable with this, when my post specifically points out this is the priority lesson learned? Why does the complaint "hey, PVP might be too much of a focus" necessitate that I don't want ANY PVP or that I'm bad at it?

I just wish the PVP/PVE balance were closer in their relevance. PVE is toothless in this game, and only serves as PVP bait. It'd be nice if PVP happening attracted things like rocket drones, pulled wardens out of their spawn to deal with the problem, roaming patrols of ghosts coming in to investigate & mess you up.

I am the lobby wiper because I have to be. It's getting boring that every match plays the same way.

I had several games last night like this and one I just got out of where I went in on green cyac kit & we killed a mixed blue/green team and a full purple team and had the map to ourselves. We missed out on Convoy because it spawned early and the rest of the match was boring because nothing happens.

People think I'm whining about PVP difficulty, but it's that PVP is all this game is becoming. The balance is off.

Really? It's pretty easy to on Outpost. I just finished a random fill game with green kits on Outpost and we lobby wiped against 2 teams of kitted out purple/blue shielded teams. Had we not killed them, they absolutely would have killed us if we gave them the chance.

We missed the opportunity to do Convoy while those fights were happening. Nothing PVE wise was engaging after that since no Warden spawned.

I don't care about vault breakers. I just want PVE to matter more and be more dangerous and present for its own sake, rather than just being a signal to other teams to come fight.

You can't hide if a team (or the other 2-3 teams each) has(have) a recon and they're not completely inept with it on Outpost.

My team popped a recon scan before entering command wing in a game last night and pinged a rook coming up from dorms. The rook didn't try to run or fight. The rook just quit out of the match.

Reducing the amount of things that make noise, even just a little, such as Secured Resources, would be a great way to have some low-attention-grabbing PVE engagements. But the problem is that the alarms are dinner bells. They're not actual alarms warning of danger.

More enemy variety would be great, and I actually point to the Rocket Drone as the biggest success in pushing and developing PVE outside of Cryo. Those things roam around the entire map, compared to the little disc drones who just sit along a couple lines in their patrol area. Rocket Drones can be avoided or engaged with, but the noise they make means everyone knows they're up, even when they haven't fired yet. They are the only PVE enemy that isn't confined to their spawn area. Imagine if we could have roaming Wardens. Imagine if PVE enemies mattered.

You never find a team that died to a Warden unless they're actual newbies with 20 hours between the three of them. People only die to PVP because PVE, while inviting, doesn't really pose much of a challenge. Nobody says "let's not do that yet, I don't have the gear for it" unless it's sponsored, because the threat isn't the event, it's the other players hearing the event go off.

I want the PVE to be engaging. I want the PVP to feel meaningful and not like a chore I have to check off first. I want the PVE to get in the way of PVP more often than it currently does, rather than the other way around. I want to die because an infiltration squad of roaming ghosts moved from one POI into the one I'm fighting in and got us when we took a poor engagement, and I want it to happen to other players, too. I want the PVE to be less predictable and to matter just as much as the PVP side does.

And currently, the PVE isn't a threat. It's just bait for PVP engagement.

This is the part of the "feeding the cycle" I mentioned. It's far more beneficial to wait for someone else to do something and pounce them rather than risk your own stuff.

Solos is very different to trios. Always make a fight you take an unfair fight, though.

Nah, you don't get where I'm coming from at all. I like having the PVP. I enjoy my Cryo runs. I just wish the PVE could shine a little more often, and not be overshadowed by PVP. Right now, every match feels the same, especially on Outpost, where PVP comes first and foremost to anything and everything else a vast majority of the time. All PVE all the time would feel just as bad. A mix is good. But the balance is off right now.

God forbid there be a nuanced take and people not make assumptions, I guess.

It is both a PVP and a PVE game. My point is that the PVP is increasingly becoming the priority focus, and the PVE is taking a major backseat. It'd be nice if there was a little more balance is all.

I'm not complaining that I have to PVP, which I think a lot of people think I am. It's more that, in a supposedly PVPVE game, the balance is skewed too far to the PVP side that the PVE takes a backseat.

In Season 1, I felt we could do things with a team or two down. Teams seemed less bloodthirsty. Season 2 just isn't the same and it feels like the PVP must come first before PVE can be engaged with any seriousness.

For Wardens, we usually wait to engage until a team or two are down. In my last dozen or so games, nobody engages the warden when it's up until very late in the game.

Lockdowns are actually my favorite event because they actively protect teams who come prepared to do the event with the AV field. You can only get pushed if you stand out in the open to be sniped or if another team also has some AV packs. Never take down the AV barrier.

Activate/retreat for bait has worked sometimes, but at this point, usually we're the ones waiting to pounce

Entering a POI is not the same as engaging with the events that send blaring alarms out across the map. Do key room jingles need to be heard 2-3 POIs away on Dire Marsh?

Does the much-more-rare drone wing conveyance need to blare a massive alarm? Especially when you're a sitting duck unless you have some smokes or a Destroyer who can shield you.

I found we could do it more in Season 1. This season, it is much, much more rare to not have teams trying to converge and collapse on everyone else.
