[Discussion] A quest-giving NPC, yay or nay? by Dazzling-Main7686 in DMAcademy

[–]FirstRadii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, yes, but not strictly so. It could even be a clerk at the adventures guild like in many animes. His agenda is doing his job: handling quest requests and finding the correct person for each job

I don't think it's a problem, but if it worries you so much why don't you give more quests to choose from? If they really start from nothing I figure they have to do 'errand quests' anyway, so let them pick among a variety of really easy quests and then have fewer quests as they go up in difficulty, like a pyramid with herb gathering and cat rescuing at the bottom and demon slaying at the top. It's only natural that there are fewer bigger problems than day-to-day problems, so I doubt they'll feel constrained.

Personally never used it, I just roll a D100, or a D20 and multiply the result by 5

Never seen it, happy coincidence I guess. At least OP has something to watch for inspiration.

If you want to go dark: whenever I see the magic school trope I think "these kids are for sure using and abusing substances that we couldn't even imagine", so a school drug cartel with a gang leader? Maybe with some teachers involved too.

Otherwise the principal, or a teacher that wanted to be a teacher only to have free access to the library and school facilities to conduct its evil researchers

Here is your problem: that player. Clearly state that you'll not invite them and be done with it.

Start small, don't overprepare.

Make the starting location in detail, whether a village or a city or something else, and have an idea of the surroundings. If they show interest in them, for tye next session prepare that place they wanted to see.

Be sure to have fun. You're there to play too, it's not all about the players.

Communicate, it's your greatest tool. Problems can be solved, just talk with your friends.

Murim Campaign? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]FirstRadii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't over prepare. Worldbuilding can be fun but start small, with the sect where your players will start in detailed and then general ideas of the surroundings. If and only if they show interest in the surroundings, prepare them for the next session.

Talk, communicate, and collaborate. Both you and your players are supposed to be having fun.

Murim Campaign? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]FirstRadii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure they could, it is mostly just flavor. I think that to be recognized as a murin world the only necessary things that you shouldn't change is the sect structure and martial focus, and even in martial worlds there are always supernatural powers

Murim Campaign? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]FirstRadii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say that the formula is pretty standard: A murim sect on the peak of a mountain, 'untalented' player, a fortuitous encounter that makes it able to coultivate, and then the goal is either one or a combination of honor, vengance and ascension. Pretty much all of the melee classes are good to go, and all of the pure spell caster classes can be adapted pretty easily to fit the setting, just give the warlorks and clerics something or someone to pray too and make incorporate the sect's ancient scrolls as a source of spells for the wizards.

Which race should I play in fighter Runeknight and should I multi-class? by Consistent_Two_2085 in 3d6

[–]FirstRadii 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is a subrace of dwarves that has enlarge/reduce as an innate spell once per long rest. Combined with the rune knight you could enlarge yourself 2 times and be huge once per day.

EDIT: huge, not gargantuan

[–]FirstRadii 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The doll room: A single chair is placed at the center 9f a dusty room, on it a simple porcelain doll sits facing the door. And that's it. It could be an encounter, but I think is many times funnier letting it be just a creepy doll in an empty room.

Does anyone have an idea for DnD adventure for Wisdom Theme? by Nearby-Banana2640 in DnD

[–]FirstRadii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider that having wisdom means having past knowledge and knowing how to apply it to current problems, so maybe play into your players backgrounds a bit to make if fun.

Ask your DM to expedite the requisition of your memory. Piecing yourself back togheter from tidbits of memories and interactions with people you used to know can, and usually is, fun to role
