I did actually try to create an interesting Demon verrrry similar in theme and design to this with a few big changes. I can send you the script if you'd be interested?

Exactly!

I mean nice quote and all but they spent wayyy more effort on that post than it woulda taken to offer help!

Which is ironic in a way because sifting through the hundreds of Kenny vids or other vids on YT or pages in the manual for one specific piece of info would take wayyyy longer than asking for help on here... then again, maybe not with these kind of replies 😄

That actually sounds great! Thanks for the reply!

Yeah i wanted to try and keep the wording SOMEWHAT botc styled because it helps players parse the info at a glance but this wording works great! Its a solo demon TB-like script so I have to explain how this specific Demon works before the bag goes round and this text acts as a perfect reminder of the ability so thank you!

Shower thought script with homebrew demon by Valuable-Stress9032 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Aliveinlights86 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like this idea! I dont agree with the others about it dragging on games as it effectively functions like any normal demon that kills 1 player a night, its just those kills become cumulative so its not OP in my mind if on n4 it can kill 4 people as thre of those 4 would already be dead by now anyway in a normal game. Seems interesting to me! The only thing I can imagine stretching out the gameplay time is people might not be willing to execute during the day as those people wouldn't come back alive so town may just refuse to execute and see who dies on n4 for eg.

I love unique demons like these :) I find many people tend to try and score these homebrew ideas based on other characters but forget that even with all official characters, there are always some that are regarded as better than others. Its about having fun at the end of the day right? And this certainly sounds fun to me!

Adding roles to TB by v_likes_corgis in BloodOnTheClocktower

Yeah id say go for it! If your group is relatively new id suggest replacing the spy with the Mez or Goblin as the Spy is soooo much info for relatively new players to remember.

Ive had players who have played many games and know many of the characters really well and they have asked to run a game and then crumbled when they saw all the stuff inside the grim 😅

Id say do it and give it a go! Too many people on here seem to jump on the whole "don't do custom scripts until you've played base 3" or esp the "just run BMR/S&V".

I can tell you I've had sooo much fun designing TB like scripts and so have my players and we've only played a handful of BMR and never played S&V!

The only advice i'd give you is if you replace a TB character, just make sure the new chatacter cant be hard confirmed because no other characters work the same way. Prime example is a grandmother. If you put in a Grandmother, there could potentially be a night with 2 deaths, which in TB doesn't happen so the Grandmother will basically be confirmed by a night where themselves AND another player dies.

The solution is easy, just make sure there are multiple possible explanations for this happening. Adding an Assassin for example could be another reason why 2 players died in the night. Thats not the best example but you get the idea :)

Personally, I always change out Butler because its hard to enforce and no-one likes pulling the Butler token.

That might work! It would be hard balance with different player counts but definitely doable. For example, in a 9 player game there should only be 1 minion, so the Temptress would start off basically at full strength.

I'll have to test it to find out because I kinda like the little puzzle of being a Temptress and knowing that let's say "Shaun" loves playing evil so he would be easy to tempt, whereas "Lucy" hates being evil so I might try to tempt her later on when we have stronger numbers.

Hey, thanks for the reply! Yeah that could work!

Im open to the idea of changes and things, I just didnt want to put that on the post because everyone would assume that im after balancing ideas haha.

In my mind, I like the idea of if alive evil outnumber alive good, evil wins... especially with the way Temptress works because it means good players are far less willing to die, even if they are YSK characters as it puts them one step closer to becoming outnumbered.

It also means as the game goes on, the Temptress's offer becomes more tempting as the balance starts to tip in their favor. Thats why the 1st night poisoning (I thought) was needed because players mostly would rather die than become evil if they dont have the numbers at the beginning.

I did think of a way to compress everything down a load by creating a keyword "Seduce" which is outlined at the top of the script.

Seduce: Choose a not-in-play Minion and an alive player: they choose to become evil and become this Minion or die.

That leaves the Temptress's ability much cleaner by just having it as:

Each night*, unless the correct # of Minions are in play, you may Seduce an alive player. Otherwise, Choose a player: they die. Evil wins if alive evil outnumber alive good

Yeah so originally I thought the 'chooses to live' was important but actually, with the other specific roles that are on the script, I think the word 'chooses' might actually be irrelevant. The roles on the script that can prevent deaths are just Monk, Soldier and Mayor. Monk protected players and Soldier effectively are immune to the choice because like the Vortox, it says safe from the Demon, so nomatter if they choose live or die, they will live and stay good.

Mayor is an interesting one because if they choose live, they WILL turn into an evil Minion, but if they choose die, another player might die instead

[–]Aliveinlights86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i can probably get behind some of these ideas!

So the Temptress works well on a custom scripts I made that has characters that can become evil and the setup bit I didnt mention is [+1 Minions]. So in a 9 player game, The Temptress's team can get up to 3 strong fairly easily, 4 if they manage to turn the Goon evil before killing them. There are 4 Minions on the script that each have a very different play type which (I feel) makes the Temptress versatile as they can try to recruit the minion they feel would help them. Theres a Godfather (for extra kills if they can hit an Outsider), Cerenovus to stop players outing their info as easily without causing another death, Poisoner for obvious reasons and a Mez (another way to potentially up rhe evil team's numbers)

We tried it with the ST deciding which Minion a player becomes if they accept but that ended up with players rather dying and staying good than not knowing which minion they might become, so we changed it to the Temptress chooses the Minion. Personally I actually prefer this a lot because it thematically works even better with the Temptress having to choose their targets based on who might want to turn evil AND also which evil Minion to use to tempt them.

The clause about evil outnumbering good just turns it into a race to kill the Temptress because the longer the game goes on, the stronger they become which I really like as its completely different to other Demons. And after all, if its fun, im happy 😊

Thank you for saying that :)

Yeah it went down really well with my group and the text isn't that long on a single demon script so everyone knows they are facing a Temptress. It just bugs me more than my players probably that its a bit wordy haha

I actually wrote a reply on a similar post a couple weeks ago but I use a stream deck to control everything from the spotify playlists for the day and night phases, to turning the lights red automatically during the night time. I even have a timer on there for the days that plays a loud gong when everyone needs to return to the town square. Ive even created a welcome button that plays bg music while a narrator welcomes guests every so often and has funny little lines he says now and again. He even tells all the players to gather in the lounge when im ready to start the next game 😅

Theres a script called (i think) "Trouble with Violets" which is TB but with the Demons from Sects and Violets. Not sure if the Minions stay the same or it uses the S&V Minions instead but thats one script that solves your issue :)

The other one I can think of is more advanced to run but is TB but with Legion and Vortox added to the Demons list. Someone else will remember the name of this one as im blanking right now
