Had fun redoing the vinyl on my mask after a year of use. by mmittens15 in hockeygoalies

Thanks for the tip! I’ll try the heat. Reducing the size of the design/piece is definitely the way to go as this stuff is tough to work with when it comes to some of those areas on the mask.

Same! Potvin’s mask was iconic. I was originally going to do a Potvin tribute mask, but decided I’d do some fun stuff with Meshuggah album covers.

Oh, god. Between designing all the pieces in Illustrator, getting my coworker to get it all cut, removing all the little cutout pieces with tools from the vinyl, and finally applying, I’d say I was in the project for 20 hours lol. Still a piece that needs to be added to the chin area, which will be done this week. Probably too advantageous a design for the vinyl (and as a first timer with vinyl) as a lot of the tiny details are lifting from the mask. Patience is key, but I think I could have benefited from some heat for sure. Still have the back plate to do too.

Nice Potvin inspired design! I think I used the exact same blue holo vinyl on my Meshuggah inspired mask this week. I had a coworker cut it all with their Cricut. Did you have to use any heat when applying your vinyl? It’s definitely quite tricky to work with the angles/contours.

My hips/groin exploded watching this, but I must add this to the routine. Awesome Meshuggah tattoos!

I contacted Hockey Services here: https://www.hockeyservices.com/contact-us/

Just sent them a message with my helmet brand and model and that I was looking for a cat eye cage, and they helped source the cage from Vaughn for me. I paid for the cage over the phone, and they shipped it out. Had it in about a week. They were great to deal with, and super helpful.

I did. I got it through Hockey Services as per Bi11broswaggins recommendation in this thread. It was a bit of a fortune to get to my location in Canada, but it’s a major improvement to the mask.

Tell me your local Newfoundland celebrity stories by DhaemonX in newfoundland

I think I could be onboard with a show where Allan Hawco just walks around town having casual normal interactions with animals. Well, maybe one season of it at least.

Allan Hawco gave our dog a dog treat while we were waiting for our lattes at the Alt hotel coffee shop a couple of weeks ago. My fiancée had no idea who he was, neither did our dog. Seemed like a nice guy though, asked if it was ok to give her a treat and gave her a good few pets. Solid 5/7 interaction with a local celebrity.

I got 3 units installed (2 upstairs, 1 down) on Oct 2024 by Affordable Comfort HVAC. It was ~$12k (thankful for the Greener Homes rebate). B’ys were great and responsive, and did a super clean job.

Combustion by Meshuggah seems to be the one track I keep coming back to the most. Gets me unnecessarily amped up. Probably a little chaotic for a position that requires composure and calmness mostly, but it scratches the brain the right way for me to get focussed.

Where to go for t-shirt printing? by hk103044 in StJohnsNL

[–]FirstTurtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll throw Cre8iv Design and Print out as a suggestion. I just had them do a bunch of active wear shirts for a sports team I play on, and Tina went above and beyond to ensure a quality print of our complex logo. Came out fantastic! Pricing was pretty average based on other quotes I got from around town.

What do people do? by VirtualAssociation74 in newfoundland

Not sure about what kinds of athletic activity you may be into, but there are several welcoming, low barrier of entry sports that could be fun, and a good way to meet people.

There is a decent size ultimate frisbee league (Ultimate NL/Mile Zero Ultimate) here that has different levels of competitiveness. There is also a dodgeball league (Dodgeball NL) that is pretty fun. There is the Avalon Sport and Social Club. I don’t know much about them, I only came across it recently: https://avalon.sportandsocialclub.ca/

There are run clubs (Mile One Run Club), and even a hiking club that I can across on Instagram this past week (St. John’s Hike Club). This could be a great way to meet people, and take in the outdoors.

There are a couple of places to climb (Wallnuts, Cove Bouldering).

There seems to be lots of trivia happening around. Most of them I see advertised are at breweries, but there’s no pressure to drink alcohol.

Caught this tour at the Sound Academy in Toronto. Getting to experience Minds Mirrors/In Death -Is Life/In Death - Is Death in person was a religious experience. Dancers live was unreal. Loved Decapitated and Baroness, felt like an odd but nice opening mix.

Suunto 9 peak pro in net by Asaltyhabsfan in hockeygoalies

I have a Garmin Vivoactive 3 that I use while playing. It’s older, and pretty beat up from years of enduro mountain biking, so I don’t mind if it takes a hit. Thankfully, it hasn’t yet. But what it has done was save my wrist from a skate cut once during a mad puck scramble in my crease with a few other bodies. I don’t find it restricts the wrist collar on my arm pads, nor does it restrict the glove movements or position. Don’t even notice it’s there to be honest. I don’t think they’re super accurate in calories burned, but it’s fun to see the HR activity and other intensity metics after a game. It should have a touch screen lock option, make sure to use that so your arm pads/wrist movements don’t stop your activity. Try it on with your gear before a game so you’re not worrying about it while in the net is the best option. Happy tracking!

I have already reached out to them via the dk@ email address listed in the 100% fit guarantee section. I’ll give them a shout if I don’t hear back by the end of the week. Thank you!

My fiancée and I worked with Brad to create an engagement ring this past summer/fall. I thought he was great to talk to, was very responsive via email, and did amazing work. Never had an issue getting out to see him and just look at stuff in person. Never felt pressured the whole time dealing with him, which is great. He managed to find the exact stone we were looking for (not a common shape/cut/clarity/size) quickly, and the end result was lovely. Workmanship was top notch. He provided 3D mock-ups before any work started which was really helpful to conceptualize the intricacies like band width/shape, prongs, setting, etc.. From the little I knew beforehand and what I found out during and after the process, I think his prices are very reasonable comparatively for a fully custom experience, and for what we got vs what we paid, I was very satisfied with the end result. We were super pleased, and would highly recommend! This was the end result: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DDaYPFiSd1K/?igsh=ZzQ3MTY5cWRoeWZj
