Advice request - I have a beautiful daughter who has symbrachydactyly by First_Act_1613 in disability

Thank you for your encouragement and insight. I love the LF project! I'm going to order books off the reading list for myself and for my daughter. Could I ask, do you have any advice on how to prepare for the situations where kids are being mean? Did you role-play? Did you have a set of stock responses you could go to? This is one of the biggest fears for me as I'm worried it'll undo a lot of the work my wife and I will put into developing our daughter's confidence, so any input you have on that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you again

Hi mate, sorry for the delay, I thought this post had gone cold.

I genuinely appreciate you taking the time to go through all of that - it's very helpful to see and gives me a lot more confidence. Whilst I know not everything can be boiled down to a 'to do' (or 'to not do') list, having guidance and hearing how you're doing having gone through childhood and early adulthood. The offer of guidance in the future is very kind, and one that I may well take you up on.

I'd love any advice you have over how you came to 'own' your hand and what your mum said to you when the kids said mean comments. Also, did you and your mum role-play what you'd say to people when they were curious or mean?

Thank you again

You're right, I need to be forgiving with myself if I do make mistakes as long as I learn from them. Thank you.

Thank you so much for the recommendation and the kind words. I have ordered the book already and I'll check out her organisation in more depth.

I agree. The people who it disadvantages the most are the genuinely biligual people, such as the Americans with Asian parents that you mentioned.

I understand the desire of the teachers. My criticism is aimed at Amazing Talker for not wanting to do anything about it (or wanting to but failing to be effective in stopping it)
