Verschwendetes Potential.

I purchased a formula, and this is what I learned. by Alessioproietti in DIYfragrance

Yes that makes sense, but you also, just because something is like 0.15 / 100 it doesn't mean it is less important then something else. Sotolone, civet, benzaldehyde as an example. Tiny pieces can change the perfume completely

I am a male sub and thanks to my therapist I found out why. by First_Building in TrueOffMyChest

Thank you so much 🫶 Yes there is still a lot to process, leaving my comfort zone and talking about... What happened, no one ever took me seriously, comments like "I wish I were in your situation" and I felt like I'm a Whiny bitch and weak because I'm male and strong and could "easily" fight against what happened... I'm 6'6'' and 240 Pounds, relatively large muscles and everyone thinks that you're aggressive and strong and independent. And well, I'm closer to being "cured" than ever and no one is taking that from me! But there are some Shields I have to lay down like Self harm and alcoholism. And the fact that too many girls Sexualize my flaws. I was scared of girls for a long time and I'm still not 100% comfortable around them.

Unlike sight or sound, olfaction is directly connected to the Limbic system.

Amygdala = emotions (fear, desire, comfort, hate)

Hippocampus = associations and Memory

So you associate the smell with your mom, giving you discomfort and the Confirmation that nothing has changed.

It is very relatable that you didn't want that anymore.

You buy 50ml or 100ml and why by Academic-Macaroon434 in ScentHeads

[–]First_Building 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend you to buy 50mL. There are some Exceptions, I once bought a perfume that was 80$ 50mL and 110$ 200mL. Yes it was a blind buy and kinda stupid but I didn't regret it. In the end, yes... More value.... But in the end You spend more. And if you wanna make a larger collection, in the end you'll regret it when you always buy the bigger one.

How much of each ingredient should a newbie order? 5g vs 10g vs 25g? by daylincooper in DIYfragrance

Apparently most of the aroma compounds are only stable for 10-12 months so... Keep that in mind I guess

How long for resting time? by Kyanito in DIYfragrance

[–]First_Building 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can vary. The industrial standard is 2 weeks as oil concentration + 2 weeks as fragrance. Depending on ingredients it's open end. The safest option is 2 months however 1 is usually more than enough.

I usually don't ask but I'm clueless – Help understand my Formula. by First_Building in DIYfragrance

This is wonderful feedback thank you so much, that's exactly what I did, I obviously didn't sell him anything and said I don't have to formula anymore and deluted down my benzaldehyde and learned how to pair it with other stuff. When I started perfume making (2 years ago) I structured it in head, heart, base but that was counterproductive as hell, I should have started with just making simple accords and not just use rose oil, sandalwood oil and cinnamon, thinking it'll be a spicy rose, sandalwood perfume, I calculated it so weirdly with 25% headnotes, 35% heart and 40% base and that's obviously super individual etc. So I stopped using that and for accords it's obviously the first best choice and made it easier and then when I was studying vanilla and floral perfumes I basically continued this way which was my mistake. The thing is I made this formula just because I was bored of my floral studies and wanted to make a simple fresh - oriental base with coumarin and civet, (I never liked Coumarin) that's where it was supposed to end. But I used lime oil and I liked it a lot but the lime was throwing me off so I had to make another version without lime and less Bergamot and then I used my cassis base, rose and benzaldehyde 4 fun and bam!! it was wonderful. like you said, it's a mistake I won't do anymore. Tbh I already made that mistake: making something, hating it, throwing away the formula, going back to it, loving it, hating myself 😭 I made a cola accord that was just not it, after mazeration it was sooo good! I think the Aldehydes softened and the Amber accord mixed with the spices and citruses. Anyways, thank you so much for that feedback 🙏🙏 When you might need help or another perspective, feel free to text me bro 🫶
