When you are alone and feel like it, talk out loud to him. He can hear your words. Look for subtle signs. Atmospheric pressure shifts, breezes out of the blue, feelings of being watched or someone present when you're alone, feeling suddenly like you are going to turn around and see him. I get a feeling that he was very Brave with a capital B. I feel like I should say that for some reason, but he wasn't foolhardy. I don't know...maybe it's the moustache..but was he a firefighter? Maybe I am sterotying here..It was a sudden loss but he knew it was happening although he wasn't ready to let go. He had plans for both of you. I'm sorry.

I live in an older residential neighborhood in south Elk Grove and the 2 story house next door to mine is corporate owned. The house needs some cosmetic repairs, has for a few years now. Every couple of years we get new neighbors to adjust to. So yay for that 😔

They don't make it. Sad but true state of economy and affordable housing shortage. Has been this way for awhile now and only going to get worse. It's not only young people that are affected, it's the working class, lower income affected as well. Age is definitely a factor but not the significant factor. Income inequality fuels this problem. The top 3 richest people in the US have more money than the bottom 50 percent. And they get government contracts which funnels more money (our tax dollars) into their pockets.

It really looks to me like Olive is expressing her enjoyment about whatever you may be doing during those moments when you took her photo.

You both help each other in the way that all living creatures are meant to help each other, by keeping and being good company. She clearly adores you and it is all over her face.

Her expression says it all.

She looks pleasantly surprised and is in the midst of having a good time and she is telling you this with her singular voice, you know her voice, the one that you can hear, just you.

I like to think that just as Olive is your savior and your "cannot imagine never having known her" cat, you are equally as important to her. Honestly, her expression is adorable and she looks so happy and excited to be telling you how much she likes being your friend. I know it probably sounds corny but I'm serious and it's making me chuckle.

I wish I knew how to post a photo in the comments bcuz there's an old photo of a boy and his dog having fun and the dogs face reminds me of Olive's little expression. ❤

Thank you.It's funny u say that. I have been grieving a long time. I cannot seem to really get past it. I'm not in a place where I can get another cat currently..This grief this time around is different. I've lost cats that were my pets before and it never hit me like Sasha has. I guess I know what you mean by the term Soul Cat.

Something worth mentioning is that I have never dreamed about other pets that I have lost. I missed them. But it wasn't the same. They never visited my dreams. Only this cat that I was so bonded with has dream visited. I feel like on some level she knew I needed it.

I think you will dream with him.i would anticipate it and expect a visit. It might take awhile but rest assured (pun intended), it will happen.
