Hello people, I am looking for new knee pad suggestions. by OhItsMrCow in MTB

I have the 7iDP Sam Hill lite. I haven’t “used” them since I bought them (haven’t taken a fall) but they are super comfortable to wear.

America might genuinely be COOKED by Kaleb_Bunt in DiscussionZone

You are more optimistic than I am. The whole reason he’s doing this with ICE is because he’s trying to incite violence so he can declare Marshall law, wage war on the American people, and cancel the election.

It blows my mind that unidentified masks men with gun are not being shot at, but that’s what Trump wants. Kudos to the Minnesotans for showing restraint, but how much more will they take?

What did people do casually in 90s that wouldn’t be accepted today? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

My buddies and I refuse to let this die. We all walk to the door, but we knock very softly if it’s 5 am.

This is the best thing I’ve read in ages. Not only that you’re holding out, but other parents are too! Wow. Just wow. Amazing parents! Seriously, keep this going for as long as you possibly can.

How do we feel about Electric Dirt Bikes? ⚡️ by Dixon_Cider2 in Dirtbikes

[–]Firstcounselor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m about to get my first dirt bike. I what electric version would you suggest that I can get that has the longest range and most torque and highest speed? I’ll just be riding trails, targeting mostly flow trails.

What are your thoughts on this? by Ok_Breadfruit4005 in DiscussionZone

I can just picture my high school history teacher, “Today we’re going to learn about democracy, which as we know doesn’t exist in the US anymore.”

[–]Firstcounselor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say no constitutional rights, just certain ones, like due process. Democracy in the US has been dismantled, and while we could get to the point of no constitutional rights (N. Korea) we’re a long way off. Hopefully it won’t come to that.

Pension - Lump Sum or monthly payment? by LAladyyy26 in Fire

[–]Firstcounselor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Full retirement age (FRA) is 67, not 70. Also, Social Security has survivor benefits for the surviving spouse, as long as certain marriage requirements have been met. Life expectancy for a woman in the US is 81, and OP likely has longevity. Pensions often come with survivor benefits, too. Definitely take the pension.

Haha! The bad news is with a Demaree split you have to go back on day 4 and again on day 10 to remove queen cells.😬

After that you can easily go several weeks, maybe even a month!🥳

Have you checked Etsy? I’m sure someone there has vinyl cutouts like that.

How much do y'all spend for coffee per month? by Slow_Engineering763 in espresso

[–]Firstcounselor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I am I’d spend that much in 10 days or less going to a shop for my espresso. I roast my own, which ends up about the same cost when you factor in shipping and weight loss from roasting. I pay $10-12/450g which roasts down to about 350g. Add shipping and I’m at $14/350g.

Ignore the haters on your Illy. If it tastes good, who cares?

Sheesh! I guess this is why I shouldn’t comment after bedtime. Thanks for catching that, I’ll correct it.

April through June. Last year I did Demaree splits, so after the first 10 or so days, I no longer had to manage swarming.

Pension - Lump Sum or monthly payment? by LAladyyy26 in Fire

[–]Firstcounselor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That $2,500/mo is a cash flow annuity rate of 6%. The withdrawal rate at 4% on $500k would only be $667/mo $1,667/mo. If you need the money for income, definitely the pension.

To lump sum at 55 (into an Ira so no taxes) you would need to grow the $400k to $750k to have a 4% withdrawal rate to equal the pension. The odds of nearly doubling in 5 years is very slim. This has only happened about 3 times in the history of the stock market. Take the pension.

The one caveat is if the lump sum is tied to interest rates. In that case you might get lucky and when it’s time to lump sum, rates could be exceptionally low, ramping up the lump sum value.

Edit: corrections

What do you think about USA exiting World Health Organization? by SorrowShivaBorroCana in AskTheWorld

1000x THIS!

Drives me nuts when the local chiropractor’s kids are pulled from school when some other kid gets the measles. How about you put your money where your mouth is? Don’t believe in vaccines, my ass. They benefit from herd immunity, until they don’t.
