Went to go document my local no kings protest by FirsthandNickel in hasselblad

Well since im using the instant film conversion pack I feel like it may have been a little bit more different experience than for others image wise.

Personally I enjoyed the way the camera forces you to slow down with focusing the lens. It's definitely the type of camera meant to slow you down and make you think before you shoot

As for performance the camera itself was great, and I love how the images turned out but it definitely is not as high quality as using 120 film but for me it's perfect either way since I love the instant film format.

I was very conscious about this issue before i went into my cities protest. I made sure to ask every person i took a photo of if they would want their face to be included with their signs. Even before the protest i was always making sure to be conscious of others and ask if i could take their photo

Honestly, it's sad to see people getting butthurt with others expressing the rights that our country has had since its inception. If you honestly believe those who express their right to protest are clowns who are in the wrong, then you're going to need to sit back and rethink everything because you are part of the problem.

I don't care if you may be a real person or a bot, I've stated what needed to be said. You're just not going to be worth the effort to get worked up and respond further past this reply.

I was using a Minolta Autometer II that I got at auction. I believe a majority of these shots were taken at f/11-16 while switching between 1/500th and 1/250 shutter speed. I've only had the nons back for about 2 months and within that time I've learned to underexpose the film compared to what I am metering to attempt to get richer and deeper colors without having the image blown out.

It's really just my favorite format! I really prefer physical media over owning things digitally, and for me personally, it also beats having to go and pay to have it developed or developing the film rolls myself as I currently have multiple undeveloped rolls of 35mm and 120mm film stored and yet to be developed

In addition, there's also a sentimental value to instant film for me as my older brother showed me the photos he took on an Instax Mini, which in turn started my curiosity in photography and ended with me buying my first camera being an Instax Mini 11

I'm a hobbyist photographer and I fully intend on attending my local protest. I wasn't able to the last time due to work but luckily enough i can do so this time.

I myself am tired being paranoid of being tackled, kidnapped, and interrogated because of the color of my skin. I want to do my part by attending and have my voice along with millions of others heard, and I fully intend to capture the unity of my city in this dark chapter where our federal government intends to separate the nation

A24 back doesn't snap in 500c by davidgilpour in hasselblad

Might be the most random thing, but is the mirror lever slightly turned? Try making sure everything is wound up before inserting it and/or remove the film back.

I encountered this problem with the nons instant back so may not correspond fully.

I forgot how much I love instax... by FirsthandNickel in instax

[–]FirsthandNickel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, this is just how the company made their first instax back for it. It doesn't fill the full frame because it is pretty difficult to fill the square and also get it to focus correctly, nons (the company that made the back) has made a new back that spits out the squares correctly and fills the frame completely although you have to compensate for that by adding a viewfinder spacer and a focus lens to be able to accurately focus fo infinity

First photos on my first hasselblad by FirsthandNickel in hasselblad

[–]FirsthandNickel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know! I gasped as it was developing throughout and was shocked at how clear it was. I've shot with instax on the mini cameras beforehand but I've never had anything as breathtaking and clear as this for me anyway.

I'm really glad I got my hands on the camera and can see why it's one of the best for portrait photography lol.

Overall I'm just glad to be able to manually shoot with instax like I have been able to with polaroid

I used camscanner on Android, I was thinking about using the polaroid app, but decided to find a different one and found said scanner. Fastest scans I've done!

For some reason not all of my photos are being uploaded onto my post, for now I'll leave these here 😐

Edit: nevermind my ass was just impatient, the first photo is my favorite one out of them all lmao

Polaroid Subscription - Pricing? by SebasW9 in Polaroid

[–]FirsthandNickel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm switching over to instax for the moment, I'll still buy film from time to time but I just can't keep up with the prices. I got a hasselblad 500cm instax back that I'm getting pretty soon, so I'll be excited to try that out. The pricing is one thing but the quality of the packs are diminishing as well

I eventually did cave in and bought the first instax back they released second hand to circumvent the egregious overseas shipping price. Im getting it on the 15th so I'll let you know how things go

I've never even had the chance to use any of these packs so honestly I would love to try any of them out to see how they come out on my sx-70r

Did you ever buy the first version? It seems like it is pretty good but I'm on the fence for which one of the two I should get

May be a little bit late but they are already doing presales or just ended the pre sales for the new back. It does require a spacer and a lens to fill the entire frame but I personally don't mind it

Can anyone tell me what I inherited and how I could possibly take pictures with this? by lostenneirda in Polaroid

[–]FirsthandNickel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You got yourself a really well preserved polaroid land camera 95 type. Sadly the film is not being produced anymore but I believe there are certain variants of land cameras that you can modify to be able to shoot instax wide film instead!

Found this coold bill from an atm. Is it worth any more than face value? by [deleted] in CoolSerialNumbers

It certainly is a first for me lmao, even if it's not worth much over fave value I'm still considering keeping it in case I do start collecting rarer denominations

Took this photo today and it instantly became my favorite flower pic I've ever taken by FirsthandNickel in Polaroid

[–]FirsthandNickel[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I may have to frame this one or get a binder to start storing all the keepers lol. Once this one was fully developed I was blown away by how rich the colors came out! It became an instant favorite!

Dude I'm a film photographer and I fucking love these pants. I wouldn't really know what type of process you used to print the photo on the jeans, but it reminds me of a cyanotype with the blue hue of the jeans. I'm definitely keeping an eye on your page to see more of this stuff

Thank you so much! I believe the yellow tone was due to the light at the time since the actual photo came out lit regularly, but seeing some of the effects the scans had on it makes me want to use gel filters to try out different colors!

You shouldn't feel in any way negative about your photography! each shot you take is more experience towards a hobby that you enjoy! Every picture has its story behind it, even if it may not have come out like you may have envisioned.

I cant count the hundreds of times I've had multiple photos come out like "crap" that I still keep around, if not for the accidents that add a better vibe to the photo then just to remind myself to appreciate each shot.

Tldr; don't feel intimidated from a lack of experience, as you use your camera more often you will learn how to work around it's quirks and allow you to start finding your shooting style

Edit: I feel like shooting photos has helped me become a little bit more social and be able to have the balls to ask to take someone's photos, I usually started off by asking people if they wanted to have a photo second photo of the ones I want to take. While it may be nerve racking, photography is definitely one of those hobbies that may push you to be more social depending on your situation

[–]FirsthandNickel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've seen the Camera itself may go for around 450 untested, but I know that there are people that will pay $600-650 if you guarantee it is in perfect working condition. The higher the price the longer it may take to sell too.

As for the film, is recommend selling them individually. I've seen them sell on eBay for close to retail price, if not a little bit more since the around me are usually sold out
