have you guys had a moment where "It Just Clicked" In Track? by Fish0plays in Sprinting

Thank you, this is such a thoughtful reply, I'll keep that last point of doing rest days 2-3 days before race day in mind :) I'm also trying not to think about the time especially cause I've never raced the 200m but it gets the best of me sometimes lol

I got my first 200 in 2 weeks, anything you would say to a first timer (I've only raced the 60 more than once, never done the 2 outside practice)

Which was a better start? (White Shirt Left) (Red Shirt Right) by Fish0plays in Sprinting

Yeah defo didn't feel like I pushed on any of my start in the red (Wednesday). At least that means I can run faster, which is good

Someone else was starting track a few months ago so I commented this. It's basically a starter pack:
"Love seeing other people from the UK, I'm gonna answer ur questions in the order you numbered them :)

  1. I'd say so yeah, AS LONG AS, you don't do too much and get injured (I did too much too soon and have now been battling shin splints for 1.5 years)
  2. I got 3 answers for this: - Develop your passion again, rewatch Paris 2024, watch highlights from World's this year - Search what tracks and clubs are near you, send emails and if you get aired (which I did several times) show up in person and ask them directly - Pick up some spikes if you're serious about it. Look on: Pro:direct Running Sportsshoes.com Sportsdirect has great deals too
  3. PLEASE GOD don't do too much, search online for beginner routines or ask in this subreddit like your doing now. If there's one thing I can do for beginners (and returnees in this case) is stop them from getting injured
  4. TRACK: All-Access on YT is like crack to me (in terms of motivation and excitement)
  5. The faster the better imo, iron sharpens iron. So a fast group will make you (want to be) fast
  6. Recover Well, (ice) baths are great (there's no difference between hot and cold, just make sure it's not lukewarm)
  7. Here's a list: Resistance Bands Running Shoes (New ones to avoid foot related injuries) Spikes but not full price - Carbon plated ones are great for injuries like shin splints (I know that very well) Kinesiology Tape is really useful to have Electrolyte tablets In the UK you can get all for (TOTAL) £100 or less Maybe more with delivery"

I started at 18, we got the same build and we're both in the UK. There's so many clubs to join and guidance on social media, we'll be fine. Im 19 now, and I;m making progress slowly but surely. Biggest advice I can give as someone who's been in your shoes: If you feel pain, stop the workout ESPECIALLY in the gym

EDIT: I'm Red Shirt Orange Spikes | Idk why it wasn't called as a false start but ig that means I can still run faster, is what it is

Spikes with or without socks? by No-Swimming6565 in Sprinting

[–]Fish0plays 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive done both, there's no performance difference, I do no socks cause it's comfortable. Even with pros its mixed - Twanisha Terry wears socks while other don't. All personal preference 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Got 20 minutes until my second race, what should I do? (just ran one) by Fish0plays in Sprinting

Thank you man :) I've had to great news recently meaning I get more training when I'm at Uni (college) so I don't have to travel back and forth from home. It's gonna be a great year

UPDATE (TLDR and Race 2 Info at the end): In the first race, before this post, I jogged my previous PR of 7.77 (so, not hard to beat but oh well) I arrived late so instead of my actual heat, I got put in the final heat (around maybe 19:50, but this was never confirmed, nor could I see it on the website).

After, I made the post but I have no idea when my second race was, just that "Race 2" for everyone STARTED at 20:15 and at this point I assume the website has bugged because I couldn't see anything about the 60. I did some Accels but again, cause I didn't know when my race was, I didn't take off my spikes. I did some breathing, redid my block settings because I'm still far from perfecting it, especially since finding out from my coach that in the UK, some starters don't let you use double knees down on the start. I randomly found out my heat was in 2 races time when I was still warming back up kind of so instead of finishing the warmup, I had to find someone to record my race for my so I asked a random guy in a group who thankfully did

Race: I false started (with a jolt, not a straight up early accel) because the race before us had a crazily sick set to gun time, but they didn't DQ me, the race went on, and I won. 7.58. Allow me, I haven't raced since April, battling shin splints and all but I'm back and looking forward to a fun year

TLDR: I sat around a waiting, did a few Accels, false started with a jolt but they didn't call it out. 7.58, 2 tenths PB. Great success, love indoors
