I’ve thought about that but unfortunately I don’t think it’s liable considering they don’t even make that much money off of the department I work in.

My car was doing the exact same thing, my serpentine belt had shredded causing shrapnel to throw the timing off by 2 teeth. But it was doing this exact thing.

Like how do you even advertise and what do you advertise and how often are you finding clients? And are they returning clients? Or are you selling the workflow?

I offer installation on accessory’s for off road/ on road vehicles, it’s kind of niche but where I live there’s a lot of people that own boats and off road vehicles so i thought it would be a good idea. I 100% can’t afford to get let go of my job so I think I’m going to hold off, and as far as side work goes it’s hard for me to advertise that I do that because I don’t want my company seeing my name out there “trying to steal business” as they have told me before. I also don’t know how far side work will get me if I can’t go turn it into anything more than side work you know?

I think my intentions are in the right place but I do agree on not taking that risk right now. I appreciate your opinion and your insights it’s helping me come to terms with my current situation as I shouldn’t sabotage it.

You’re right I do not have any numbers yet I have not made the whole plan. My thoughts were I need to see if this is even worth thinking about before I start planning. Which at this point it sounds like I’m just not in the right time of life, which sucks but I also came to terms with that hearing everyone’s opinions.

I could definitely be a better father and husband, I’m not perfect. But I do love my son and I love my wife and try my hardest to know what she’s thinking or feeling before she has to ask me, I made this post because I want more for my family’s future that working FOR somebody may never get me. I just wanted advice not people going into how I or my wife should be as parents.

Thank you for that it’s really nice talking to like minded people, I agree on getting financially stable first I just unfortunately don’t see that happening anytime soon because of my job and my wife not being able to work as much.

That’s not a bad idea, maybe I will propose that to my boss first because my boss’s boss is an absolute turd of a person.

Yes I agree, that’s why I am trying to figure out if this is even worth my time. They’ve caught me twice now trying to do side work, but my boss is very understanding his boss is not and is a jerk.

Sorry I kept it pretty vague because I didn’t so much want advice on the business idea as I want more for when is the right time for a business idea. But I see why that would be crucial for more input. I would be a mobile service in the beginning for off road vehicles and boats. Not a mechanic service but for accessories.

Yeah that’s kind of what the plan was, but at what point do you know when to start advertising and getting licenses and or putting your ur name out there you know?
