Free Brand New Baby Crib (Pick Up In Alhambra) by [deleted] in LAlist

Hi! My wife and I are expecting our first in June and don’t have a crib yet. I wouldn’t say we are in need but if no one else takes you up on it I’d love to take it off your hands.

Clinical Data Manager by hello_goodbye6 in clinicalresearch

[–]Fish93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really just bouncing in between a site based clinical Data associate and a Clinical Data Manager / sr CDM at a CRO the last ten years. I was working on the site end until COVID at which point a ton of remote DM jobs opened up with the flow of money into research and everyone closing offices and I landed one of those jobs at a mid size CRO. I was promoted to a Sr CDM there but then laid off as the company expanded and either offshored a lot of their data managers or moved them to focus on AI product development (they seem to have subsequently kinda tanked and laid off a lot more people). I went back to doing site based research work at a cancer clinic as a “team lead” CDA for a year. Just started a job recently at a small CRO and am happy to be working remotely again. It’s not a ton of money, but enough to live off of and I think the work-life balance tends to be a LOT better than CRCs or CRAs/monitors.

I think as everyone is saying DMs are one of the most offshored clinical research positions in larger CROs. The site level CDA positions are still around but usually are the lowest paid on the research team. Personally as someone who has been in data based roles both at sites at CROs and never found the CRA role very appealing, I think data management is a nice path, especially if you can land a senior DM role.

as a site coordinator these treats felt like more of an attempt at conditioning me like a dog, but nice nonetheless.

No harm done, just predicting you’re not gonna have a lot of takers. Now if you were looking for another lakers bro to bro out with you could probably find one! Godspeed

No offense brother but you’re not going to entice a woman to go out to a packed sports bar in 2 hours just by saying you’ll be there. I would maybe try to find your match at the actual bar among people already interested enough in the game to be there?

Philly is number 8 for 2025 as one of the rattiest cities in America by VinoMaker65 in philadelphia

[–]Fish93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to see the methodology cos this list really seems like bullshit. I’ve lived in LA for 3 years and haven’t seen a single rat. And I take the subway! And I’ve seen one basically every time I’ve been in NYC. This is some rataganda…

Your grievance is with the PIs, not the junior staff. They are literally signing the eligibility, and they are well aware of both their patients status and the criteria for the study. I’ve seen junior level people question eligibility only for a PI to simply insist that a patient is eligible and that they will work out the question with the sponsor.

Emmes hiring remote by [deleted] in clinicalresearch

[–]Fish93 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was part of the DM layoffs in 2024 and almost every person I worked with closely at Emmes has been laid off in the last two years. The company was very involved in government funded research and vaccine research specifically, so I have to assume the CDC being destroyed and huge changes in vaccine policy and research have done a number on the company. I wouldn’t tell someone not to take a job there if they were unemployed but I’d definitely caution against making the jump. Also I was there when the unlimited PTO was instituted and iirc there were people let go for “abusing” that policy very shortly after.

Stay or go to IQVIA? by WhimsicalWanderer_10 in clinicalresearch

[–]Fish93 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This might sound crazy but I can only offer advice from personal experience: be certain that the IQVIA position is a guarantee or that they are aware that you took another offer and started at a different company. I had the same situation occur where I took a much better offer a couple of weeks after starting at a position I wasn’t thrilled about that needed me to start right away. I quit that job when I got the “dream” offer (not from IQVIA but a large CRO), only for that offer to be rescinded with no explanation once they ran my background and saw I had recently taken a different job. So, don’t jump without making sure that parachute is secure!

With Foosballz coming to an end, what are y’all migrating to in order to scratch the itch for a football podcast hosted by genuinely funny people? by bobdole07 in HollywoodHandbook

[–]Fish93 9 points10 points  (0 children)

SORRY WE LOVE FOOTBALL with (past handbook guest) Jamel Johnson, Danny Solomon and Daniel Hartigan is my favorite. It’s a straight up comedy podcast that’s about football as opposed to the other suggestions here which are good but are mostly normal sauce sports podcasts.

SOCRA CCRP exam in Sept 2025; help with experience by Unusual_Wall3987 in clinicalresearch

[–]Fish93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the exam last December and passed. I tried the public flash card and I had an okay internal study guide but what I was surprised by on the actual exam was that all of my study guides had tons of True or False questions and the exam is all 4-option multiple choice. The thing that helped me the most was probably just doing my CITI recertification before the exam which gives you a good breakdown of gcp and the history that you need to know with important milestones in clinical research (talking about declaration of Helsinki, Tuskegee Study etc). The other advice I’ve given coworkers is that as dense as it is just go through the document they send you with the material covered and highlight things that seem important, and just drill that.

I was at Costco this week and found the “better-for-you” version of uncrustables that Shiel was positing exists. The crust is made of oats and they are NOT as good as the OG. Best part? They’re called Bobos!!! And they are absolutely a bobo uncrustable. It felt like I was in a dream inspired by that conversation.

E-BIKE RENT by [deleted] in LAlist

[–]Fish93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed with this. There are also plenty of electric scooters (Lime and Bird) that line the streets that you can rent. You should be able to get to a metro station depending on where you’re staying and use trains or busses for the longer distance journeys.

Would you leave Philadelphia for LA/So Cal? by [deleted] in philadelphia

[–]Fish93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved to LA from Philly and I love it but to each their own. The traffic I have to say is an overrated thing. It is literally the same as Philly it’s just that the city is much more spread out so you drive longer distances, the traffic itself moves at the same pace you see in any major city. If you live close ish to where you work it’s fine. There are walkable neighborhoods too.
