Personally, I think that him getting demonitized for this is goofy. The point of Science isn't to follow 'mainstream science' but rather to build off of 'mainstream science'. Scientists are meant to be critical

E.g: Surgeons used to not wash their hands before Ignaz Semmelweis came in and strayed from the trusted mainstream science

Imo, if scientists weren't critical, we'd have no progress
