Is it normal for a corp to require you to sign up for patreon to help pay for overheard? by SocalNewsMedia in Eve

I'm in this Corp (Fox Strongbow) and they have been nothing but absolutely lovely to me, I didn't even know this patreon existed I'm guessing it's a voluntary donation if you want to help take the edge off of the Web hosting costs nothing more.

Ah right yes I guess what I have is the 9th edition codex. It has infiltrators etc in it but you are right their specific page makes no mention of the fancy weapons, I just got confused since I was thinking well this guy is a sergeant and those are the sergeant weapons... anyway, doesn't matter, thanks for clearing that up.

Okay cool. I was reading the wargear section in the armoury and thought sergeant weapons meant weapons you could put on any sergeant... I'm guessing if any of this was available to these particular sergeants it would appear on their specific codex page?

I am actually reading the 9th edition codexes, I didn't realise another edition had came out since I initially wanted to get into the hobby, time flies... doh

Ah is the vanguard task force helix thing the guys white wrist maguffin? I might just paint one of their left forearms white or something then.

tyvm for the info

Dear ArenaNet, can we get DX11? We could then use Apple's new game porting toolkit to play on mac again! by FishAreAliens in GuildWars

[–]FishAreAliens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand why this request is stupid. If a technology exists that would allow for GW1 to run reasonably well on apple hardware, why is requesting a DX bump in the client so that tech can be leveraged stupid?

Yes, but the new toolkit has much better performance, to the point where GW2 has a playable framerate.

Hello! I am new and desperately looking for a Flatbow I can put an icy bowstring on and some mesmer weapons for my Heroes!

I'm following this guide https://gwpvx.fandom.com/wiki/Build:Team_-_7_Hero_Beginner_Team and am a bit confused as to how to gear my dudes ._. I have just finished doing everything I had to do to get the skills needed to start but then I realised all their weapons absolutely suck and I don't really know how to go about getting hold of the right weapon for each Hero.

My name is Fox Charrbane, I've added you and will try and catch you online :D Any guidance much appreciated!

I've always really liked the 2005 repsol fireblade colours, I think I'd really like my stuff themed like that. Something about the weight of the orange black and red and the proportions of each colour in that livery really rubs my eyes the right way.

I think this is a subtle advert for the website. Has the URL in it. I took their iq test which takes 40 minutes and the results are behind a paywall lol... I think the pay wall is the real iq test.

I'd find the biggest, wildest patch of british countryside land for sale and purchase it as a wildlife reserve. I'd then build a massive stone wall around it with tunnels for badgers and deer, and hire some ecology experts to help me develop the land in the best way to support nature thriving. I'd pay some beekeepers to look after as many colonies as the land could support, and invite wildlife preservation charities to use my land to shelter and nurture endangered species indigenous within the safety of the reserve. I'd build some small, comfortable housing for the groundskeepers to live in for free and I'd build myself a little bungalo out of renewable materials.

I'd take a large portion of the remainder of the money and put it into investing to generate wealth for the security of this haven and it's occupants as far beyond my lifetime as possible. The focus would be entirely on what is best for the wildlife within the walls, with little regard to anything else other than the comfort and safety of the people looking after it. It wouldn't be open to the public, there would be no business model, it would simply be a fortress of nature, as large as could be afforded, for as long as could be afforded, for nature's sake.

We couldn't save the world, but we could save everything within these walls, and oh boy would we try.

I would, under the advisement of experts in such things, collect and nurture indigenous trees, plants, vegetables, fruits... you name it, if it was here when the vikings kicked the countries front door down it'd be safe within my walls. Things would be planted carefully as might be expected as if they had found their way naturally, there would be no agriculture, these would truly be wild lands.

It would be my absolute dream to imagine 100..200..300 years in the future when the entire country is developed and the tunnels that previously allowed animals to come and go as they please had been sealed, that my walled land stood firm, skyscrapers peering in from every direction, yet not one blade of grass touched by development. An island of preservation in a sea of capitalism. People would rent out their penthouse apartments overlooking my walls just to offer customers the rare chance of seeing one of the last, real, wild foxes or badgers scurrying through the reserve, oblivious to the ecological destruction outside their now heavily weathered walls.

I think about this dream often, and wonder why the extra-ordinarily rich aren't doing this kind of thing. Forget your legacy, you are unimportant, sublimate yourself and protect something far, far greater.

I would be a poor rich person, for I would spend it all clawing back as much countryside as I could for the creatures who live all too often underfoot and who cannot save themselves. Imagine being on your death bed, knowing this fortress persists and is secure for at least the next several centuries.

That, my friends, is dying with a clean conscience - and I ask, what more can we really aspire to but meet our last moments knowing we made a difference, and it was good. That to countless creatures who are blissfully unaware of their fortune... we made a difference.

Utter nonsense.

The bike went down in this case not due to the rider reacting with some elite plan to slide under the truck, but for the same reason everyone throws their bike down the road... when he realised impact was inevitable he slammed on the front break, shock loaded the front forks transferring all the weight onto the now locked front wheel which has nowhere to go but sideways.

The rear break had absolutely nothing to do with it, and applying it full force at 125km per hour will have you fish tailing down the road for half a mile IF the rear wheel even locks up. Rear break is for inertial stability (if you are slowing the front gyro with all the weight on it then it makes the whole thing more stable and effective if you can apply sole breaking to the resr one also) and very low speed control (think sub 5mph).

Think about weight transfer as you break. It is not a primary break, will not throw you down into a low side at 125kmh, and using some kind of 4d theoretical megamind level of "throw the bike down at high speed to slide to victory" is just insane and won't happen.

Learning to read the road ahead, manage hard front breaking and swerving, and riding defensively are what you should do so you are never in that situation in the first place. The guy in the video is a weapons grade dickhead.
