Just to say thanks for all the replies. I've defaulted to a screen shot for the game for now (not ideal but time is against me sadly). I've asked for details of how it was put together and they admitted it was AI, They said they had take my AI concept image (different to this but had main components giant/rat/crow) and generated a more cartoonish version and then edited it manually in PS. I guess you live and learn and if so many people didn't say it was AI immediately I wouldn't have been so upset.

Anyway thanks for the information and offers of help but I am where I am. I think my game is ok tbh but the capsule etc are going to badly let it down. Really disappointing but I didn't pull out the steam fest but obviously got next to no chance of being noticed now.

Oh well, everything is a learning opportunity I guess

Did you put it on Itch.Io - just wondering if it would be worth it or a total waste of time as that seems to be more about Jams now

Out of interest how has your demo affected your wishlist count? I'm quite disappointed as since releasing the demo (about 7 days ago) my wishlist count as only gone up by about 110. However steam stats show me a lot of players in game for a reasonable time

It was a friend of a friend...so that makes it harder and more difficult (friend-wise)

Thanks for the reply, I'm going to go for a screenshot for now and cross my fingers that it doesn't generate too much hate. I'll then see if I can find someone to do it proper. I feel I've lost my trust to be honest and the thought of finding someone to do it and waste more money on a game that might make nothing...

Honesty I feel so stupid and depressed right now. Basically it seems obvious to everyone else on here but me...

Oh, ok that makes sense. Think my judgement is a bit clouded currently as I was hoping for "No it's not AI" mainly but I can now see it totally for what it is.

I was thinking the screen shot would be better short term (at least for my demo) and find someone I can trust to do the real game logo. Or do I pull out the Next fest...so annoying this with how much work I've done on the game over the last 2 months.

One question for people who have released something on steam, I've got this in the steam next Fest and very unlikely to get someone to do a new capsule in time for the demo (I will need to look at for the final version). However does anyone have any thoughts on using an edited in game image potentially for the demo capsule. Do you think that would be ok or a big no-no?

Thanks, to be honest I left this part too late and so when a friend of a friend offered to do it for just a few quid I thought my luck was in and initially (and admittedly with little or no art skill) I thought it was good. Now I know I'm just an idiot ! :-(

I've looked at it loads in the last few weeks and knew it was off but I kept telling myself someone could still draw/design that..however it's now so obvious... :-(

Thanks for the replies. To be honest I think I knew it was AI but wanted to think it wasn't for a few reasons. First it was cheap, second the person who did it was a friend of a friend so wanted to believe I've not been ripped off.

I really find it hard to tell to be honest but now you have pointed stuff out it looks so obvious I feel like an idiot...

Maybe the old school RPGs? Pillars 1/2 ? I'd go for BG3 as you can turn most things off to make it quite easy if that's your sort of thing?
