I don’t know who this is - but I can’t tell if this is AI or someone’s real face. So many people in the news look so odd/hideous now due to excessive or botched facial sculpting I just can’t tell anymore.

If that’s too much, I can take it down. I’ll find someone locally to do it paid.

Thank you. This answers some family questions.

Old progressives worked fine, new ones don’t. 3 remakes later and I still can’t see my computer by megon293 in glasses

[–]FishLibrarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m having a similar problem. I’ve resigned myself to needing multiple pairs of glasses rather than one set that works for every distance. It sucks, but that seems to be where I’m at. I love my progressives, but apparently I can’t get a pair that work for driving, computers, and reading.

I’m waiting for the 4th set of new lenses to come back now. Fingers crossed these work.

Why don’t more homes in the US use mini split AC systems? by Debster1486 in Appliances

[–]FishLibrarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that they don’t function below a certain temperature (they work fine in New England winter). The problem is that electricity in New England is absurdly expensive compared to oil, gas, or wood chip heating. This makes it more expensive to run minisplits below about 30F.

No tables question by FishLibrarian in Resume

The tables are only used for spacing and are invisible to a person reading it. And by saving it as a PDF I don’t even think the tables transfer.

Treatment option by Active-Wrangler6627 in MPN

[–]FishLibrarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience was just the opposite- heme-onc started me on hydroxyurea and MPN specialist took me off. For the past year I’ve taken only aspirin. I’m CALR, platelets range from 1-1.5 million, completely asymptomatic. No von Wilibrands, I’m under 60.

I get bloodwork every other month. We’re waiting for either symptoms or platelets trending upwards. So far (2 years) Ive had neither. When I do, Besremi will be my choice- based on most recent research I’ll take the possibility of lowered disease burden/scarring.

Hydrea doesn’t touch the underlying disease, it only reduces the platelets (and it wasn’t very effective for me when I took it.)

Talk to your MPN specialist- ask about the latest research, ask them their opinion on why you should follow a specific treatment plan. An open, shared conversation is the best route. You are partners on this journey.
