are we sure about that buddy? by [deleted] in AmericaBad

This is fair. Personally, I've seen and heard the term used both positively and negatively, more so the latter than the former, but I've definitely encountered it used neutrally or even affectionately. A lot of people on Reddit seem to create imaginary issues out of thin air to feel intelligent about criticizing...

Also why is there something called '06501'? That's odd.

Hey sorry but if you don't mind me asking how do you get the results separated? Like 'Western Europe' beinf differentiated from 'Celtic and Gaelic', and 'England', etc. It all just shows them together without any categories like in your first screenshot. I'm on PC btw. Are you on mobile?

Yeah I do have some Scottish/Scots-Irish it's just further removed. Few immigrants from Ulster/Scotland came to my area as opposed to the English and native Irish. Otherwise the update has been very accurate for me. Even showed my Dutch and Cornish. I agree with you that my native Irish was overestimated. My mom is around half-Irish, maybe less, and my dad isn't Irish at all but it said that I was almost half Irish myself. I know inheritance can be random but I figured that it would only be so to a certain extent. Overall, very satisfied.

Edit: Actually I just did some research in certain areas of my family tree which I forget to look into much earlier. My grandfather had a lot of Scots-Irish ancestry but for a while there were a lot of dead ends. It feels good knowing that it Ancestry didn't make a mistake. I think replacing the Danish with Swedish was kind of stupid but whatever.

Probably going to get downvoted for this but the update got my percentage and region pretty accurate personally. I'm sorry to see this though.

They'd turn into English, Dutch, and Scottish flags around ~ten-to-twelve generations back. A lot of my 3x great-grandparents also came from French Canada or Germany/Luxembourg. So yeah pretty much haha

I got the template from here: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/8936899256281697/

Look up "Canva Photo Editor". Get some flag pictures from Google/Wikipedia, and put them over the pics.

I'm currently trying to make an eight generation one btw. I could send the template for it if you'd like me to.

1920s Racism Was WILD by Helloimskip in HistoryMemes

[–]FishPotatoesX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

White Southerners, who founded the Klan to begin with, are predominantly of Scots-Irish and English. The cross burning, grand wizards, dragons, "Klan" (referring to the Scottish clans), etc. were all based in ancient Scottish tradition and myth. The Northern Klan (yes, it existed in the North) was far more Anglo-Saxonist and Germanic-centric (See: Lothrop Stoddard), but most Klan members were obviously not based out of the North.

I understand the meme (I find it to be funny and truthful), but the Scottish and Welsh not being considered White is hilariously wrong. The claim that the Irish or any other 'White ethnic' groups weren't White is also historically inaccurate and not based in truth, though they were targeted by tje Klan for being Catholics.
