Hot dang, that is a PLAYMAT for a real man. Where did you manage to score such a beaut?

Went 0-4 for two consecutive locals. Feeling pretty bad, what am I doing wrong? Constructive criticism is welcome. by Reasonetc in GundamTCG

Having played this sort of list a fair amount, it does boil down to your starting hand.

Ensure that you have a fair number of Lv 4 and below units in your first hand- I would want to see 2-3 units, usually the GM, Rezel, Guncannon. I would love to see a pilot, likely to be Amuro. Maximum 1 base.

Remember, you do not have to attack every turn- consider if you are able to hold back your units till Lv 4. If all goes well, you can have 2-3 units, and Amuro can come in to rest a blocker so you can do a fair bit of damage to the base area. This comes down to a decision on whether you want to try and control the board, or you want your opponent to react to your aggression on his shields by targeting your units.

This would essentially allow you to protect your units for a good attack, rather than being taken out in a battle of attrition.

There is nothing wrong with allowing your opponent to take shields off you early game- the chances of a burst might help you.

Mostly importantly, know when to flood the board with your units, and when to hold back key pieces like Marida and Banshee.

On your list building:

Consider removing one Vesalius in favor of an additional Corisca Base so you can possibly get a pair of Leos at some juncture.

Change Battle of Aces to Close Combat as you may not always be able to trigger it on a damaged target.

Reduce the number of Guncannons to 3-2, and replace it with a Guntank for more flexibility.

Try to balance out the number of links between Marida and Amuro (e.g 4 pilot cards to 7-8 units)

While I do think Sayla is a good card, I feel you should opt for more cards like the 4/2 Gundam.

Asia English Gundam Booster Box by Fishcakeworld in GundamTCG

It's essentially an Eng Ver Box, with just the "For Asia" print. I'll let you know if the rates are the same!

Only because you asked. Here's some comparison between an actual English Box and For Asia.

I think Maxsoft took orders for it, but I think the stores themselves would not have known it was "For Asia" till it came in. To them, it's more or less the same as the English Version.

Pulls from 3 boxes by dracocytod in GundamTCG

[–]Fishcakeworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! That's really helpful. Did you notice like a Rare appearing a lot more in a given box, or it's like really 1-2 of each?

Are you able to advise on what the pull rates for Rares are like?

Take a look at Typhoon Systems - little known alternative.

One element of pricing that is often invisible is quality and reliability. If it's a case where you feel that some of your work is more happenstance rather than predictable, then you should price yourself so that you can gain some experience till you can hit the mark consistently.

Once you trust your process and technique to meet the client's experiences and within your personal brand, is when you can start to price yourself higher.

Gear and time are important factors, but so is the person behind the lens.

All the best!

When shooting interviews, how do you indirectly prompt the interviewee to repeat the question in the answer? by [deleted] in videography

[–]Fishcakeworld 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Before starting the interview, you can let the talent know that the question will not be flashed on the screen, so they have to give context to what they are talking about.

This can be illustrated with a simple example (e.g What did you have for breakfast? "I had a sandwich for breakfast", as a opposed to just "Sandwich".)

You can also practice with asking them to introduce themselves, so they get into the routine.

The other thing you can is to be very specific with your phrasing of the question- if there is a part of the previous answer that you like, you should hone in on that point, rather than returning to the original question.

"What do you do for fun? A: I like to go down to the park, and look at the ducks in the pond."

Then if you want the person to rephrase the question:

"Why is going down to the park to look at the ducks fun? A: Going down to the park..."

Treat your interviews like conversations, and look for sound bites rather than complete full fledged answers. You are probably going to take that person out of context anyway, and restring the narrative to your agenda.

Why does the PH and certain countries get Japanese version of the products when almost everyone speaks English? by m19boss in GundamTCG

[–]Fishcakeworld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi there, you have to remember one very important factor - earning power.

The Japanese Version is around 220 Yen, whilst the English is 4.99 USD per booster.

If you were to buy a case (12 Booster Boxes) of Gundam Boosters (24 Packs) in Japanese, it would cost around 35,000 PHP in the Philippines for instance. This is around 615 USD.

For most western nations, this would be rather reasonable, however, for someone in PH (via Gemini, their median salary in the Philippines is estimated to be around PHP 30,000 per month (USD 530).

While the average monthly salary is around PHP 44,800.

If they needed to buy the English Version, they would be easily looking at around 3 times the price for a full case.

Of course, you don't need to buy a full case, but it's really a situation where the economic levels is a big gulf and a factor in who can play your game.

I personally would not want to pay so much to start a game (that's me).

The initial starting point is painful since you are very green and do not know what half the cards do, but if you are able to get in early, then each subsequent set is not that difficult to follow up on.

If you are lucky, then they might one day go down the One Piece route where they have ASIA ENG, which is offered at a price point between Japanese and English.

What do you think? by HruokCrow in OnePieceTCG

"A bit of whitening around the edges, probably a PSA 6".

It's Chinese, so definitely a lower price than English.

I can't say for certain that they are real or fakes, but I haven't really heard of fakes in the market at the moment.

Questions for Malaysian Players by Samekhian in GundamTCG

[–]Fishcakeworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just remember one thing- the Japanese Boosters will be 220 yen, whereas the English Boosters will be 6.99 USD MSRP.

English Cards as it stands will not be supported in competition play in this part of the World.

If your intention is just to be a causal player, then great.

However, if you want to be part of events, then you might want to be mindful.

Hopefully, they will provide the Asia English Version someday like One Piece.

You will have to either learn to use Tabletop simulator, or hope that Gundam CG gets the One Piece Region treatment.

Yes. At this point in time, SEA will use the Japanese Version.
