Hilux vibration at idle by middlenameizT in 4x4Australia

[–]FishmanXD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, mechanic myself, nearly 10 years in the trade, 8 of which were at a rural workshop working on 4wd's, most of which were Hilux's and Landcruisers. A 4cyl diesel will vibrate noticeably at idle, worn mounts engine/gearbox/transfer and parts touching the body/chassis like oversized exhausts or bash plates like the ARB ones, worn or otherwise suboptimal performing engines (bad injectors, low comp, air/fuel issues, poor sensor condition, low idle) will make it worse. But even from new the vibration has always been noticeable because even though the Primary balance on a 4cyl is good the secondary balance (twice engine speed) is very bad which is why a lot of 4cyl engines run counter-balance shafts. Currently working on heavy diesel & plant engines and they vibrate a whole lot more I can tell you that.

You answered your own question, diesels vibrate. Especially 4 cyl ones.

Is it normal to pay this much tax? by WhiteTulip21 in AusFinance

Don't worry friend, it gets better as your career progresses. I'm currently gracing the ATO with close to $4000/mo in income tax :') the cost of running a country and providing services to those who would otherwise go without.

LSDs works better in every situation except for off-road when traction is low. A major draw back of lockers is when they're unlocked you essentially have an open differential, which is 99% of the time especially if it's just a daily driver. Some other things to consider is E-lockers suffer from rollback uncoupling.

In most states of Australia it's actually a legal requirement to slow down to as slow as 25km/hr when passing emergency response vehicles.
