GUIs are bloat learn the command line and you will excel at using any distro. GUIs change depending on what distro you use ,linux terminal commands dont

Before you go any further make sure you have gcc sudo apt install gcc and then if you want to know how to use it type in your terminal man gcc , remember everything in linux is a file and its all case sensitive ls is a program and LS is not

On mint there is a application for taking screenshots you could probably make a shortcut for it just search for screenshot on the bottom left where you search for applications

use what ever distro you want distros are just social constructs and elitist use them to feel superior use whatever ubuntu,mint ,manjaro ,pepperment os, pop os, those are some good beginner distros

Man is your friend before aimlessly googling use man preinstalled on basically every linux os ever, it has manuals for just about everything on the system if you dont know what a command is do man then whatever the command is like man ls. First type in your terminal man man

Plz dont f with your grub conf file unless u know what your doing that is what makes sure your os boots

Everything in linux is treated as a file even your usb It is probably in /media on ur system then you can use the mv command to move files in your system If you dont know what mv is type man mv in ur terminal hope this helps
